  • Patent number: 10845194
Abstract: The present invention addresses the problem of providing an inertial force detection device with which it is possible to diagnose sensor output without hindrance even when a vehicle is traveling. In order to solve this problem, there is provided an inertial force detection device for measuring inertial force according to a displacement amount of an oscillating body, wherein a diagnosis voltage that is synchronous with an output command signal inputted from the outside is applied. Furthermore, the period over which the diagnosis voltage is applied is shorter, by a prescribed period, than a cycle of the output command signal. Furthermore, at least one of the period over which the diagnosis voltage is applied, the diagnosis voltage, a diagnosis threshold value, and a filter characteristic is varied according to the cycle of the output command signal.

  • Patent number: 9047829
Abstract: An image display apparatus includes a dimming value determination circuit for determining a dimming value of a backlight based on an input image signal, an image signal compensation circuit for compensating the input image signal supplied to a liquid crystal panel in accordance with the dimming value, and a backlight drive circuit for driving and controlling the backlight in accordance with the dimming value. When the light emitting luminance of the present frame of the backlight increases relative to the light emitting luminance of the previous frame, the backlight drive circuit delays the timing for applying the dimming value of the present frame. This makes it possible to reduce power consumption of the backlight by suppressing deterioration in the image quality in spite of the sharp change in the display image luminance.

  • Patent number: 8957880
Abstract: In a local dimming technology for reducing power consumption of a display device using a backlight as in a liquid crystal display, the backlight is configured by a plurality of independently controllable light sources, an image is divided into areas of the same number as that of the controllable light sources and light emission intensity of the light source is calculated based on a feature value of each area. However, this technology has a problem that when a backlight luminance distribution within each area is not uniform, image quality is deteriorated or a power consumption reduction effect is lowered. In the present invention, the image is divided into areas of the number greater than that of the controllable light sources, and the light emission intensity of each light source is determined based on the feature values of a plurality of areas to reduce the above-described problem.

  • Patent number: 8896638
Abstract: An initial light control value calculation section calculates the backlight's initial light control value K0 according to brightness of an inputted image signal for each area. A black area measurement section measures a black area S by obtaining ratio of the number of pixels satisfying Y?Y0 (Y: brightness signal level, Y0: black level threshold) in the screen. A minimum light control value output section determines a minimum light control value Kmin based on comparison between the measured black area S and a black area threshold S0 and outputs a maximum value permissible for the light control value as the value Kmin when the black area S is the threshold value S0 or less. An LED control signal calculation section outputs a control signal to LED light sources based on a light control value K1 as the higher one of K0 and Kmin.

  • Patent number: 8823633
Abstract: In a liquid-crystal display device including an edge-light-scheme-employed backlight device, it is implemented to reduce its power consumption while maintaining its excellent picture-quality. The present invention is applied to the backlight device with a plurality of edge-light-scheme backlight cells in a matrix-like manner including a LED light-source, and a light-guiding plate for emitting light. The intensity of light from a backlight cell positioned at a screen's peripheral portion is so controlled as to be made lower than the intensity of light from a backlight cell at a central portion. The light intensity of a backlight cell having a LED light-source adjacent to a first edge portion of the illumination surface of the backlight device is so controlled as to be made higher than the light intensity of a backlight cell adjacent to a second edge portion opposed to the first edge portion.

  • Patent number: 8736543
Abstract: An area control section individually sets illumination intensity (light control value) of each backlight cell corresponding to each area of the display screen. A spatial filter corrects the light control values so that spatial distribution of the light control values becomes more moderate between adjoining areas. A black area control section sets the minimum value of the light control value based on a “black area” in the screen. A power control section corrects the light control values so that power consumption of the backlight does not exceed a limit value. A shading control section corrects the light control values to relatively lower brightness in the peripheral part of the screen compared to the central part of the screen. A micro-controller switches the operations of the above light control value correcting sections according to an image display mode selected by the user.
