  • Patent number: 4409508
Abstract: A brush holder for dynamo-electric machine has the following parts: a brush making sliding contact with the surface of a rotary collector; a stationary holder part fixed to the stationary part of the dynamo-electric machine opposite to the collector; and a detachable holder part detachably secured to the stationary holder part and holding the brush when separated from the stationary holder part, the detachable holder part being provided with a retainer that clamps the brush when the detachable holder part is separated from the stationary holder part and unclamps the brush when it is attached to the stationary holder part, the brush clamping portion and the portion of the retainer therearound being coated with a coating film of a material having a friction coefficient smaller than the material of the retainer. This arrangement obviates various unfavorable phenomena such as jumping of the brush, sparking on the sliding surface, cracking in the brush and so forth.

  • Patent number: 4316113
Abstract: An electric rotary machine is provided with a stator having a stator core of laminated iron plates with a given lamination thickness in an axial direction of the machine and a stator winding wound around the core and a rotor rotatably disposed inside the stator, having a rotor core and a rotor winding. The axial length of the stator core is selected with respect to that of the rotor core in such a way that, when the rotor is thermally extended, the end of the rotor core never extends beyond the end of the stator core. With such a constructional arrangement, there is eliminated an excessive temperature rise at the ends of the stator core, and prevented an insulation deterioration of the stator winding and the burning of the stator core.

  • Patent number: 4296346
Abstract: A brush holding apparatus for a rotary electric machine permitting removal and replacement of brushes without stopping the rotation of the rotary electric machine comprises a brush holder which can be detached from a stationary unit, and a securing device for detachably securing the brush holder to the stationary unit. A manipulating lever is provided on the stationary unit to actuate the securing device. The brush holder can easily be mounted on or detached from the stationary unit by the manipulation of the manipulating lever for the puppose of removal and replacement of the brushes while the rotary electric machine is in operation.

  • Patent number: 4274021
Abstract: A liquid cooled stator winding of a rotary electric machine comprising a stator bar which is composed of a plurality of hollow conductive elements and disposed within a slot of a stator core, and a liquid coolant header fixedly mounted on one end of the stator bar by heat welding. The stator bar is bent adjacent its end in a direction generally normal with respect to its longitudinal direction so as to serve trouble-free over long years of machine operation.

  • Patent number: 4274027
Abstract: A rotor for electric rotating machines has a plurality of salient poles arranged in spaced relation in axial direction on the outer periphery of the rotor rim. Adjacent salient poles have opposed slots in the axial direction, into which a shielding member is fitted to bridge between said adjacent poles. The shielding member includes a plurality of rod members fitted over the entire length of said slots to extend across said opposed slots. While the rotor is running, the centrifugal force acts on each of said rod members thereby pressing the rod members against the outer periphery side wall of the slot. As a result, the centrifugal force is dispersed substantially uniformly over the entire length of the slot wall.

  • Patent number: 4163166
Abstract: A field winding assembly for rotor in electric rotary machine which is to be mounted into a substantially rectangular open slot formed in the rotor and secured by a wedge disposed in the slot closer to its open side, wherein the field winding assembly comprises a conductor section to be mounted into the slot, and an insulator for insulating the conductor section from the slot walls and the wedge and composed of a lower U-shaped insulating member covering the sides of the conductor section adjacent to bottom and side walls of the slot and an upper U-shaped insulating member formed to cooperate with the lower U-shaped insulating member for completely surrounding the conductor section and to have a base side adjacent to the wedge when assembled in the slot. The upper U-shaped insulating portion which is flexible for lateral contraction and expansion of the upper insulating member whereby the stress imported to the upper U-shaped insulating member is absorbed by the flexible characteristic of that portion.
