For instance, a management service (e.g., a mobile device manager) may provide configuration settings to a parent virtual machine. Upon successful application of the configuration settings, the parent virtual machine notifies a configuration service that it is in a steady state and provides the configuration settings to the configuration service. The configuration service notifies a cloud-based service (e.g., a virtual desktop service) that it is configured to instantiate virtual machines. The notification informs the cloud-based service that it is permitted to instantiate child virtual machines. Responsive to receiving the notification, the cloud-based service instantiates child virtual machine(s) as needed.

The index values are separated from data and retained in cache memory to allow access without requiring a disk input/output (I/O) operation and thereby having less latency resulting from such disk I/O operations. The index values can be compressed using an algorithm such as Crit-Bit-Trie to allow storage of the index values in limited cache memory space. The index values can be selected for storage according to a least recently used approach when cache memory is insufficient to store all index values to maintain a hit rate for the cached portion and reduce the disk I/O operations.

The resistance variable structure has unidirectional resistance variable ability, and can perform erasing operation in the direction of current conduction, which on the one hand avoids the problem that the erasing operation cannot be performed by reverse voltage, on the other hand avoids applying reverse voltage to the barrier and improves the reliability of self-rectification effect.

The manufacturing method reduces one photolithography process and one process of growing ESD polysilicon, saves cost, and reduces difficulty of the manufacturing process.
