  • Patent number: 7428738
Abstract: A disk drive includes a gear transmission system disposed within a casing. The gear transmission system includes first and second gears, a driven plate having a first serrated portion meshed with the first gear, a second serrated portion facing a third gear, and first and second guiding slots. A lifting frame has two couplers slidably engaging with the slots in the driven plate. Rotation of the third gear alternately in opposite directions results in movement of the driven plate in right and left sides of the casing, which, in turn, results in lifting of the frame to an upper reading position, in which, a resilient pushing arm of the lifting frame abuts against the driven plate to provide resilience between the second serrated portion and the third gear.

  • Patent number: 7222350
Abstract: A disk drive includes a gear transmission system disposed with a casing. The gear transmission system includes first and second gears, a driving plate having a right serrated portion meshed with the first gear, and a left serrated portion disposed adjacent to and facing the third gear. Rotation of the second gear in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions alternately results in movement of the driving plate in left and right sides of the casing, which, in turn, results in engagement and disengagement of the third gear with the left serrated portion of the driving plate, alternately. The driving plate further has an open-ended slot formed at the left end of the driving plate and adjacent to the left serrated portion in such a manner to provide resilience when the left serrated portion is engaged with the third gear.

  • Patent number: 6911749
Abstract: A spindle motor structure includes a rotor, a stator accommodated mainly inside the rotor, and an internal roof magnet located on an inner roof surface of a rotor bell of the rotor. The internal roof magnet further has an inner rim and an outer rim. The inner rim is located projection-wisely within a range of a hollow shaft of the stator. The outer rim is located projection-wisely between an internal peripheral surface of the rotor bell and an inner edge of a coil of the stator. By providing the internal roof magnet inside the rotor bell, a magnetic field to immerse the stator can be generated to damp out possible operational noises and disturbance upon the spindle motor.

  • Patent number: 6697320
Abstract: A clamping device with variable clamping force of an optical disk drive is disclosed. The main structure consists of a base, a resilient body with restoring property, an annulus magnet (or an annulus yoke) which can exert attraction force to a turntable for clamping disk, and a linking member which can change height of the annulus magnet (or the annulus yoke) relative to base according to the centrifugal force induced by variation of rotational speed of the optical disk drive. The centrifugal force is proportional to square of angular velocity such that the gap between the annulus magnet and the annulus yoke is accordingly adjustable. Variable clamping force is thus achieved by variation of the gap.

  • Publication number: 20020159371
Abstract: A loading tray for optical disk drive in upright position is disclosed. A disk-supporting surface and a disk-contacting surface is designed on the tray as a single component. The disk-supporting surface is an upright slanting surface or a curved surface. Thereby, with the help of the special shape designed on the tray surface, the weight of a disk can be automatically guided to be as a pushing force for mounting the optical disk toward the disk contacting surface so that the disk can be attached tightly on the tray free of dropping out. The loading device can accommodate either thin or thick disk conformed to the Red Book of CD. The utility of the present design make a disk loaded more efficiently and reduce the possibility of scratching or damaging the data surface of the disk.
