On detection of an instruction to store an incremented value, the incremented value is permuted by applying an encoding, in which a value of a least significant bit changes only on every second increment, to two least significant bits of the incremented value. On overflow of a least significant byte as a result of the increment, a cyclic byte-wise shift is applied to the incremented value. The permuted incremented value is then stored in the one or more memory locations.

    Abstract: A photoluminescence color display comprises a display panel that displays red, green and blue pixel areas, an excitation source operable to generate excitation radiation for operating the display, and a photoluminescence color-element plate. The color-element plate comprises at least one photoluminescence material, such as a phosphor material or quantum dots, that is operable to emit light corresponding to red, green and blue pixel areas of the display in response to said excitation radiation. Additionally, the photo-luminescence color display comprises a wavelength selective filter that is provided between the color-element plate and the excitation source. The filter has a transmission characteristic that allows the passage of excitation radiation from the excitation source to excite the at least one photoluminescence material whilst preventing the passage of photoluminescence light back to the excitation source thereby prevent cross contamination of light among the different pixel areas of the display.

    Abstract: A method of fabricating a light emitting device comprises: mounting a light emitting diode chip in a package; heating the light emitting diode chip package assembly to a pre-selected temperature; and dispensing a pre-selected volume of a mixture of at least one phosphor and a light transmissive thermosetting material (silicone, epoxy) on a surface of the chip. The pre-selected volume and temperature are selected such that the phosphor/material mixture flows over the entire light emitting surface of the chip before curing. In an alternative method, using a light transmissive UV curable material such as an epoxy, the phosphor/material mixture is irradiated with UV radiation after a pre-selected time to cure the material. The pre-selected volume and pre-selected time are selected such that the phosphor/material mixture flows over at least the light emitting surface of the chip before curing.
