  • Patent number: 10812871
Abstract: A video-on-demand (VOD) server in an Internet protocol television (IPTV) network with a network of set-top boxes includes IPTV operational data and an analysis module that selects a content item. The VOD server divides the content item into sequential chunks, divides the chunks into stripes, pre-populates set-top boxes in a peering network with at least one stripe from each chunk, receives a request for the content item, and directs each set-top box to sequentially stream its stripes. A method includes selecting a content item based upon IPTV operational data, dividing the content item into sequential chunks, dividing the chunks into stripes, pre-populating set-top boxes in a peering network with at least one stripe from each chunk, receiving a request for the content item, and directing each set-top box to sequentially stream its stripes.

  • Patent number: 10375136
Abstract: A layered syndicated feed or content is provided having layers defined according to a media type (e.g., text, graphic, audio, or video) wherein each layer has a plurality of levels such that each level provides either inclusive or exclusive content of the layer's media type in varying degrees of detail or depth. Furthermore, a system is provided for requesting and storing user and mobile device profiles indicative of the syndicated content layers and levels that the user is interested in receiving and that the user's mobile device is capable of receiving.

  • Patent number: 10371532
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing at least one information feed are disclosed. For example, the method receives at least one content via at least one automated feed. The method associates the at least one content to one or more geographical locations on a map, wherein the one or more geographical locations are determined from the at least one content. The method then presents an access to the at least one content to a user via the map.

  • Patent number: 10330563
Abstract: A system and method to substantiate safe-life criteria of a structure with an anomaly includes a flaw in a critical loaded region of a test structure; a processor; and memory having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the processor, cause the system to receive first signals indicative of strain energy release rates (SERR) for the flaw at the critical loaded region of a test structure; fit the first signals for the flaw SERR to a Benzeggah-Kenane (B-K) mixed mode curve shape; determine values indicative of B-K criteria of the test structure in response to the fitting of the first signals; receive second signals indicative of SERR for the production structure; and compare the second signals with the B-K criteria of the test structure to substantiate the safe-life criteria.

  • Publication number: 20170341743
Abstract: A trim tab for use in a blade housing includes a cavity connected to an opening extending from the cavity out a trailing edge of the blade housing, the cavity has a first dimension which is greater than a second dimension of the opening at a same spanwise location of the blade housing. The trim tab has a trim portion, a head portion having a head dimension substantially similar to the first dimension, and a tail portion connecting the trim portion and the head portion. The tail portion has a tail dimension substantially similar to the second dimension such that the trim tab is retainable by the blade housing when the head portion is disposed within the cavity and the tail portion is disposed within the opening.

  • Publication number: 20170150229
Abstract: A method includes receiving a request via a peer-to-peer network at a first media device from a second media device. The request indicates a portion of video content and also indicates a time that delivery of the portion of video content to the second media device is to be completed. The method further includes transmitting, based on a data rate, the portion from the first media device to the second media device. The data rate is based on a bandwidth that is less than an available bandwidth usable by the first media device to transmit data and that is greater than or equal to a bandwidth threshold for serving the request. The bandwidth threshold is based on the time indicated by the request.

  • Patent number: 9578288
Abstract: A plurality of portions of a video content item is distributed to a plurality of peers, respectively, of a peer-to-peer network. Each of the plurality of portions encodes less than an entire portion of the video content item. A peer of the network retrieves at least a subset of the plurality of portions of the video content item from at least a subset of the peers. The at least the subset of the plurality of portions of the video content item enables recovery of the video content item by the peer.

  • Patent number: 9295064
Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus are disclosed to facilitate ranked network priority. An example method includes calculating a rank of a first wireless device relative to a plurality of wireless devices based on a first bid value associated with the first wireless device, allocating a first bit rate to the first wireless device based on the rank of the first wireless device at a first time, and in response to detecting a change in availability of the first bit rate at a second time, applying a second bid value for a second bit rate when the first wireless device is located in a first geographic area, and applying a third bid value for the second bit rate when the first wireless device is located in a second geographic area different from the first geographic area.

  • Publication number: 20150149528
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems to determine a distributed content storage scheme are disclosed. Example methods to store a content file include generating, with a processor remote from a first client device storing content shares of the content file, a first content share storage scheme identifying a second client device to which a first subset of a first combination of the content shares is to be distributed for storage when a first client device is coupled to a first local area network. The method further includes generating, with the processor, a second content share storage scheme identifying a third client device to which a first subset of a second combination of the content shares is to be distributed for storage when the first client device is coupled to a second local area network.
