  • Publication number: 20160012922
Abstract: An advanced Th232/U233 thermal breeder with both high specific fuel power and breeding yield is presented. Said breeder is designed as a high specific power, unique hybrid reactor, comprising of a reactor core of solid coated particles of uranium kernel and a separated thorium fluoride liquid annular blanket. The contamination of the first loop is thus greatly reduced. Such a design is based on the existing experience of molten-salt cooling fixed-bed power reactors and HTGR, and, at the same time, eliminates the fatal high contamination resulted from the fission products in traditional liquid fuel thorium breeders. The strong contamination jeopardized the commercialization of the traditional liquid fuel thorium breeders. The high specific power of fuel increases the breeding yield of new fuel. Said low contaminated, high breeding-yield thorium breeder is, therefore, most likely selected as one of the candidates in the Second Nuclear Era.

  • Patent number: 7856848
Abstract: The present invention related to a flexible hydrocarbon gas separation process that could dehydrate the water-saturated hydrocarbon gas mixture and recover thereof the required higher hydrocarbons (NGL) therein with a controllable ethane recovery rate (ranging from >95% to <2%) while keeping high recovery rate of all other heavier components. The flexible process comprises the following steps: deep-cooling and dehydrating the raw gas and get the NGL condensate; flowing the deep-dehydrated gas into the flexible absorber to get the rich oil with desirable ethane content; completely demethanizing and partially deethanizing as desired the rich oil and the NGL condensate to get purified rich oil and purified NGL condensate, respectively; separating the NGL vapor from the purified rich oil; cooling and compressing the NGL vapor; mixing the NGL vapor with the purified NGL condensate; and liquefying the mixture to get the final NGL product.

  • Publication number: 20090268860
Abstract: The present invention related to a novel process for accelerating the breeding and conversion of fissile fuel in various types of nuclear reactors. In said process a movable nuclear fuel ball bed filled with a coolant creeps through the reactor core. The said process could provide higher specific power per unit fuel volume inside the reactor core and proceed on-line refueling, thus requires much less initial fissile fuel inventory per unit power output as compared with the traditional breeding or conversion reactors. The said process has full inherent safety characteristics and could follow the external power demand with the inherent negative temperature coefficient of reactivity. The said process, therefore, is a more efficient and economic approach to meeting the enormous demand of fissile fuel for the forthcoming “second nuclear era”.

  • Patent number: 6553784
Abstract: The present invention related to an apparatus for efficient and cost-effective comprehensive processing of natural gas, including the removal of moisture and the recovery of the higher hydrocarbons components (C2+). The said apparatus comprises the following major components: an integrated natural gas processor with a dehydration section and a higher hydrocarbons absorption section; a heat transport medium cooler; an absorbent cooler; a fractional distiller for separating the light oil from the heavy oil absorbent; an inhibitor regenerator; and a refrigeration unit. The present invention provides a low-cost natural gas comprehensive processor that is universally applicable to both terrestrial and off-shore natural gas exploitation. The said apparatus also provides an efficient and cost-effective natural gas dehydrator when the dehydration section is used independently without incorporating the absorption section.

  • Patent number: 6158242
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for efficiently and cost-effectively removing moisture from pressurized gas stream to any required low level. The invention adopts an irregular matrix of finned pipes to remove the moisture as liquid and solid deposits. Clogging is completely eliminated in the freezer and heat recuperator of this apparatus. The dew-point of the dried gas may be reduced to under -100.degree. F. The method and the apparatus provided by the present invention are universally applicable to the dehydration of all kind of gases, and, hence, can replace all the three major dehydration methods and dehydrators currently in the market, i.e., the solid desiccant absorption, the liquid desiccant absorption, and the refrigeration dehydration. No BTEX pollutant is emitted to the atmosphere when applied to natural gas dehydration.

  • Patent number: 5664426
Abstract: The invention disclosed herein relates to a dehydrator for removing moisture from a gas. The dehydrator has a narrow elongate conduit having an equivalent hydraulic diameter which facilitates the diffusion of water molecules through the gas to a cooled gas contact surface of the conduit. Despite the use of narrow elongate gas flow path, the dehydration efficiency of the apparatus of the invention is outstanding and pluggage of the gas flow path is substantially eliminated.
