Abstract: A method and system for enhanced electronic delivery and sale of a content item. In order to speed delivery and avoid congestion of a delivery channel, a potential customer is identified and the item delivered prior to solicitation by the customer. Delivery is at a time when communication resources available prior to a critical time of peak demand. Delivery of the item may be enhanced via multicasting. Sale of the item is encouraged through one click context sensitive buying.

Abstract: A method of preventing unauthorized access to digital content includes obtaining from a trusted entity a public key of a public-private key pair, encrypting content being received by a storage device using the public key, and storing the encrypted content on the storage device. The public-private key pair includes the public key and a corresponding private key. The content is encrypted on the storage device using the public key so as to be decipherable using a corresponding private key. Access to the corresponding private key is restricted to the trusted entity alone and encrypted content may be decipherable by the trusted entity, only after an indication of authorization for use of the corresponding private key is provided to the trusted entity. Also provided is a method of controlling access to encrypted content that is stored on a storage device operating as a secure storage device.

Abstract: A system and method to protect a target file from data damage wherein a wrapper application transparently intercepts a write call operative to affect the target file and stores the pertinent data in a delta file. Occasionally the target file is backed up in a temporary file and then updated. The wrapper application also intercepts a read call operative to access the target file and merges the update information with data from the target file in a temporary file. The resulting merged data is returned as read results data.

Abstract: A portable data storage device (dongle) is configured to serve as a joystick. A method and system are supplied for using the dongle joystick to modify the presentation of an a electric media content item over a host and for using the dongle joystick as a user input interface to select a content item to be presented over a host or to select a datum to be stored. One portion of the dongle joystick is connected to the host and held stationary while a user imposes a force on a second part of the joystick to select and play content. The dongle joystick may include a processor to process output into a format compatible with a legacy playing device host.
