Abstract: A support for use with an armored vehicle, the support comprising a frame having a plurality of longitudinally extending beams connected to one another and forming therebetween a convex polygon. The support further comprises a plurality of attachment elements configured for carrying the frame and for being attached to a vehicle roof. The support is configured for being mounted on a roof of the vehicle and for carrying thereupon a gunner protection kit. The polygon is sufficiently big so as not to obstruct a top hatch of the vehicle. The ends of at least some of the beams extend beyond the polygon, and are configured for engagement with the attachment elements thereby carrying the frame by the ends.

Abstract: An externally mounted window system, a bracket therefore and a method for its assembly is disclosed. The system includes a reinforced window pane fixed in a frame. The frame has at least two brackets, each having an L-shaped section. A first arm of the L-shaped section is armored against an incoming projectile and a second arm is fitted with at least one stud projecting through and secured within an opening formed in an external wall surface.

Abstract: A retention mechanism for a hinge mechanism of a door. The retention mechanism comprises: (a) a first portion comprising a keeper and a biasing arrangement configured to bias the keeper toward a locking position, while allowing displacement of the keeper from the locking position to a disengaged position; and a second portion comprising a latch, the latch being configured to displace the keeper from its locking position to its disengaged position and comprising a seat for retaining the keeper therein in its locking position, so as to maintain a door in its open position when the keeper being retained in the seat. The retention mechanism, when operating in conjunction with a hinge mechanism of a door, comprises a clearance area in which, during pivoting of the door between its closed and open positions, there is no contact between the keeper and the latch.

Abstract: Provided is a suspension system for use in an armored vehicle having a floor and a roof with an opening formed therein; the suspension system including a gunner platform and a suspension apparatus configured to hold the gunner platform in a suspended position spaced from the floor and the roof of the vehicle; the suspension apparatus including non-rigid elongated suspension elements, and being free of rigid elongated elements, configured to hold the gunner platform in said suspended position. Also provided is a method for providing a gunner platform in an armored vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicle comprising lower and upper surfaces, an object and a suspension apparatus for holding the object in a suspended position in the vehicle. The object having opposite rear and front edges, and adjacent first and second halves extending between the rear and front edges. The suspension apparatus being adapted to anchor the object to the lower surface of the vehicle via elongated suspension elements, and comprising first and second elongated suspension elements. Each elongated suspension element comprising first and second ends and an intermediate portion therebetween. The first elongated suspension element is connected via the first end thereof to a first point on the object's first half, and is connected via the second end thereof to a first point on the vehicle's lower surface disposed closer to the objects second half than to the first half thereof.
