  • Patent number: 4567213
Abstract: An ink composition for use in ink jet printing to print images on a substrate, the composition being formulated to include, as the resin component, a styrene-acrylic acid copolymer having a molar ratio of styrene to acrylic acid ranging from about 1 to about 4, a soluble dye, a solvent system including a lower alkanol and a lower aliphatic ketone, and, optionally, an evaporation retardant. The composition of the invention has a pH in the range of 1 to about 7 and contains less than about 5% water for use in printing on a variety of substrates.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 20, 1983

  • Patent number: 4465800
Abstract: An ink composition for use in ink-jet printing to print images on a substrate, the composition being formulated to include, as the resin component, a phenolic resole resin and, as the primary solvent, a lower alkanol. The composition is also formulated to contain a pigment or soluble basic dye, a resistivity control agent preferably in the form of hydroxylamine hydrochloride, an evaporation retardant, and a modifying resin. The use of a phenolic resole resin which is capable of undergoing cure on evaporation of the solvent provides a printed image having improved adherence to various printing substrates and can be formulated and dissolved in less toxic, lower alkanol solvents.

  • Patent number: 4169185
Abstract: A gasket and a process for preparing it are disclosed characterized in that the gasket is especially adapted for high temperature application, for example, in the range of about 1200.degree. F. to about 1600.degree. F. The gasket comprises a metallic base sheet having a sealant coating comprising a flexible, heat-cured, phenyl-substituted, hydrocarbyl-substituted polysiloxane resin containing metallic powder, such as aluminum powder, dispersed therein. Preferably, the polysiloxane resin contains at least 10 mole percent of the phenyl radical and may include in admixture an alkyd resin to assist in imparting flexibility.

  • Patent number: 4145509
Abstract: An improved gasket is disclosed having a novel sealant comprising the reaction product of a monoacrylated, terminated, active hydrogen-containing hydrocarboxy reactant an aromatic diisocyanate, and a polyacrylated terminated hydrocarboxy reactant. The active hydrogen of the monoacrylated reactant reacts with at least one isocyanate radical of the aromatic diisocyanate to form an isocyanate linkage, and the reaction product of the monoacrylated and diisocyanate reactant is further reacted with the polyacrylated terminated reactant in widely varying mole ratios. The resulting gaskets have improved temperature resistance, compressibility, film hardness, elongation, flexibility, and organic solvent resistance.
