Abstract: According to one embodiment, there is provided a graphic controller to be employed in an information processing apparatus that is operable in a system state of either a normal mode or a power saving mode, the graphic controller including: an image processing section provided within a first power domain and configured to generate screen data based on data received from a control section of the information processing apparatus; and a VGA controller provided within a second power domain and configured to output the screen data to a display device, wherein, upon receiving information indicating a transition from the normal mode to the power saving mode, the VGA controller continues outputting the screen data having been outputted to the display device at the time of receiving the information to the display device, even after the transition to the power saving mode.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, this invention is a video playback apparatus including a video storage unit which stores a compressed video signal, a decoding unit which decodes the video signal, an average color calculation unit which calculates an average color in a first frame included in the video signal, and an average color in a second frame to be detected upon a lapse of a predetermined time after the first frame, a difference calculation unit which calculates a difference between the average color in the first frame and the average color in the second frame, a determination unit which determines whether the difference calculated by the difference calculation unit is larger than a predetermined threshold value, and a playback control unit which controls to play back the video signal, in accordance with information on the second frame when the determination unit determines that the difference is larger than the threshold value.

Abstract: A graphics controller acquires, from an external display device, information which is set in the display device and is required to determine the availability/non-availability of a display switching process, upon reception of a display switching instruction command from a CPU via a graphic memory controller hub. The graphics controller determines based on the acquired information and information of contents, which are to undergo the display switching process and held by the graphics controller, if the display switching process can be immediately executed in the current state.
