  • Patent number: 6095586
Abstract: A windshield molding is installed in the space between a windshield and a periphery of a window opening of a vehicle body panel. The windshield molding comprises a pair of extruded side molding parts, a pair of extruded corner molding parts, and an extruded upper molding part integral with and extending between the side and corner molding parts. Each of the side molding parts associated with each side edge of the windshield is larger in thickness compared to the upper and corner molding parts, where a water drain channel is formed.

  • Patent number: 5807588
Abstract: This invention aims to shorten cycle time by allowing a robot to be operated with speed capability regardless of the shape of moldings. An extrusion molding apparatus has an extrusion molding machine which delivers an extrusion material which becomes a frame-shaped molding through a nozzle fore end, and a robot which holds a workpiece on which the molding is formed and whose working speed is set so as to make travel speed of workpiece rectilinear portions with respect to the nozzle fore end higher than travel speed of workpiece corner portions with respect to the nozzle fore end. Thus, changes in workpiece travel speed with respect to the nozzle fore end are allowed, and robot working speed is not restricted by the shape of moldings.

  • Patent number: 5507992
Abstract: A production method for extruding molding sections to be fitted in a periphery of a windshield glass includes the steps of extruding the molding sections by using a die having an opening for extruding a support leg which is to be inserted into a space between the windshield glass and a window frame of a body panel and having an opening for extruding a decorative portion which covers the space from outside the molding sections, wherein the molding sections are extruded by keeping an area of the extrusion opening on the die for the decorative portion constant at all times. The method includes the step of increasing, during production of one of the molding sections, an area of extrusion opening on the die for extruding the support leg in order to provide an enlarged thickened section between an outer surface of the windshield glass and the decorative portion.

  • Patent number: 5233805
Abstract: An automobile windshield molding is provided to be fitted in a gap formed between an automobile window frame and an automobile windshield. The molding includes an upper molding and opposing side moldings formed monolithically and continuously with the upper molding. The portions of the upper and side moldings which extend above the windshield are formed thicker for the side moldings than for the upper molding, in order to prevent sideways scattering of water incident on the windshield. The thickness of the side moldings decreases gradually toward the upper molding. The molding can be formed by a molding apparatus utilizing shutters which have predetermined shapes and which are linearly movable in order to increase or decrease the effective size of the extrusion opening to gradually change the thickness of the moldings during continuous molding of the upper and side moldings.

  • Patent number: 5167893
Abstract: An automobile windshield molding is produced by a molding machine having dies. A method of producing the molding includes the step of extruding molding material through a hollow portion formed by the dies. The shape of the hollow portion is changed by moving the dies according to the cross-sectional shape of the molding, thereby widening part of the hollow portion of the dies to increase the thickness of the molding material. One of the dies is projected into the widened part of the hollow portion to form a water drain channel on a large thickness portion of the molding.

  • Patent number: 4990311
Abstract: An apparatus and method for deodorizing a gas mixture including air and a malodorous substance having a flow passage for the gas mixture and a fan for inducing air flow in a predetermined direction through the passage. An ultraviolet lamp for generating uv rays below a critical wavelength is in the flow passage for generating ozone from the air in the gas mixture. An ozone-decomposing catalyst layer is in the passage for contacting the gas mixture, and an ozone-decomposing ultraviolet lamp for generating uv rays above critical wavelength is positioned to irradiate the layer directly. The intensity of the radiation of the two layers is controlled to avoid the discharge of ozone from the downstream end of the passage.

  • Patent number: 4842829
Abstract: A deodorizing apparatus adapted to be placed in an enclosure to deodorize the bad smelling components of the foul air within the enclosure. The body has an interior free space and a ozone-decomposing layer. Ozone is generated within the free space and flows in contact with the layer so that it is decomposed before it can leave the body. The ozone is formed either by silent (corona) discharge or by ultraviolet radiation in the free space, and the energy supplied is sufficient to cause the ozone to flow outwardly into contact with the layer and to draw in foul air through the layer so that the decomposing ozone effectively deodorizes by oxidation the bad smelling components. The flow through the device is sufficient to deodorize the entire enclosure.
