  • Patent number: 6583774
Abstract: A display device controls a signal applied to the n dots such that a sum of luminance of n dots (n is an integer of 1 or more) is virtually equal to an original luminance of the defective dot on the assumption that the n dots, which are adjacent to an electrically uncontrollable dot, are not originally illuminated. The display device also controls a signal applied to dots adjacent to the defective dot so as to display a color which is closer to an original color obtained by input signals to the defective dot and the adjacent dots.

  • Publication number: 20020181363
Abstract: Provided is a disc drive device that optimally controls a speed for reading RTR-format data, such as video and audio, recorded on a DVD-format disc, thereby enabling real-time playback without interruption. In the disc drive device, information added to each sector is used for determining whether data is RTR-format data. When an error occurs at high-speed reading of RTR-format data and therefore the reading speed is changed to a low speed, the reading speed is so controlled as to be kept at the low speed for reading the following RTR-format data. Thus, for RTR-format data, overhead due to repetitive acceleration and deceleration processes can be avoided, and reading can be carried out without interfering with real-time playback. For normal data, reading can be carried out in a manner similar to that in background art.

  • Publication number: 20010013032
Abstract: In a database management system including a request reception server and a plurality of execution servers, each having a plug-in program module incorporated by a user, the request reception server analyzes a processing request from the user to determine whether or not the plurality of execution servers require currently unidentified input parameters when executing external functions in their plug-in modules, based on a definition information table created from descriptions of interface specifications for the plug-in program modules. When it is determined that the execution servers require such input parameters, an external function in the plug-in program module in the request reception server is executed to previously acquire the unidentified input parameters.

  • Patent number: 5526519
Abstract: An object-oriented system which deals with data and procedure integrally includes a memory having a real memory space which contains a set of object management information, a set of page management information, a fixed page region and an unfixed page region, a memory management section for managing these parts, a swap file for saving pages, and a method execution section which executes the procedure of an object. When loading the object into the real memory space, address-unfixed pages in the unfixed page region are allotted to the object and address-fixed pages in the fixed page region are allotted to the object at the time of execution. Consequently, the object can be accessed directly based on the physical address. The garbage collection and page swapping processes are implemented only for address-unfixed pages, and the overhead of object access operation can be reduced.
