  • Publication number: 20070267913
Abstract: A lifting pump for manganese nodules includes: a cylindrical body that is sealed at upper and lower portions thereof by a semi-spherical upper cap having a fluid outflow port and a cable insertion tube, and by a semi-spherical lower cap to which an inflow case of a pump unit is coupled; a pumping motor that has a fluid passage formed between an inner surface of the body and an outer surface thereof, is vertically fixed in the body, and drives the pump unit using electric power supplied through a cable; a cover that provides a seal around a shaft of the pumping motor; the pump unit that is installed between the shaft of the pumping motor and the semi-spherical lower cap, is driven by the rotation of the pumping motor, and lifts seawater together with the manganese nodules; a sealing means that provides a seal between the pumping motor and the pump unit; and a reducer that is coupled to the bottom of the pump unit and guides the seawater including the manganese nodules to the pump unit.

  • Publication number: 20060098276
Abstract: An optical system for monitoring an alignment state of a large telescope comprises a primary mirror and an annular null mirror which is placed at the outside of a secondary mirror. The optical system functions as a null system, where the wave front of the reflected rays from the null mirror is consistent with the surface shape of the primary mirror in regional band. Since the null system uses a small annular lens on the outside of the secondary mirror, it has the advantages of light weight and small overall size.

  • Patent number: 5457416
Abstract: A Q-switching drive circuit utilizing a magnetization curve characteristic of a saturation reactor, thereby capable of achieving a semipermanent use life, a rapid switching into a Q-switching opening phase voltage, a maintenance of the Q-switching opening phase voltage for a period of several hundreds nanoseconds. The Q-switching drive circuit can operate at a high repeat rate. An initial closing phase-delayed voltage is maintained in the Q-switching drive circuit so that a prelasing phenomenon is prevented from occurring upon oscillating the laser. The Q-switching drive circuit utilizes a magnetization curve characteristic of the saturation reactor so that a characteristic of a rapid return of the phase voltage from the opening state to the closing state can be obtained.
