Abstract: A method and apparatus to associate a graphic icon representing a user in an Internet virtual world with the user's experience in the real world, the method including: logging data of an event occurring to the user in the real world; transmitting the logged data to a server; and updating the graphic icon in the virtual world according to the transmitted data. Accordingly, by associating the contents of the user's experience with a database (DB) and expressing the contents in the graphic icon, the user's experiences in the real world can be more realistically expressed in a virtual world.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for waking up a remote main system. The method includes: certifying whether a user of a terminal which transmits a packet for waking up a main system that is in a sleeping state is a legitimate user of the main system; and transmitting a wake-up signal to the main system if it is certified that the user is legitimate. Access of uncertified users can be prevented by certifying a user who is in the process of logging on or logging into the main system before the main system wakes up.

Abstract: A method and system to provide a blog by using a mobile terminal, and a mobile blog (MB) caster therefor, the method including: receiving blog data including one or more pieces of downsized data from an MB caster; selecting a piece of downsized data from among the one or more pieces of downsized data; obtaining metadata corresponding to the selected piece of downsized data; accessing a web blog server; and downloading original data corresponding to the metadata from the web blog server. Since the blog is created and provided by using the downsized data, instead of the original data, a blog server operation can be realized by using only existing mobile devices. Furthermore, the mobile terminal does not have to be connected to the Internet (or the web blog server) for a blog service. Also, it is possible to provide the blog at very high speed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a plurality of data in a protocol module. The method includes (a) determining priorities of the plurality of data based on information on the plurality of data, and (b) driving a plurality of protocol modules, which process the plurality of data according to a predetermined protocol, based on the priorities determined in (a). Accordingly, it is possible to process the plurality of data at a high rate by constructing a plurality of Internet protocol (IP) layers and a plurality of a transmission control protocol/user datagram protocol (TCP/UDP) layers in a hardware manner without involvement of a processor.

The apparatus in a configured node includes a duplicate address search message receiver, a duplicate address response message transmitter, and a virtual address response message receiver. The apparatus in a router includes a virtual address allocation message receiver, a virtual address allocator, and a virtual address response message transmitter.

Abstract: A method for more efficiently operating a network, and more particularly, for discovery of a path maximum transmission unit (PMTU) between nodes on an IP network, is provided. The method includes (a) comparing the size of a received packet with a maximum transmission unit (MTU) of a next link; and (b) if the size of the received packet is greater than the MTU of the next link, generating an error message, transmitting the generated error message to a source node, generating a test message of the size of the MTU of the next link, and transmitting the generated test message to a destination node. According to the PMTU discovery method, a PMTU can be determined in a shorter time, and it is possible to minimize the use of network resources.

Abstract: Provided are a method of controlling frame transmission in a wireless local area network (WLAN) and an apparatus using the same. A first retransmission control method includes: comparing the number of errors in a frame received from a server with a predetermined threshold; and adaptively not allowing retransmission of the frame on the basis of the comparison result. Therefore, optimal pictures can be provided without regard to a state of a WLAN environment by adaptively allowing retransmission frames in which errors are detected.

Abstract: A fast handover apparatus, method, and medium for performing a fast handover in a wireless LAN environment. The fast handover method includes (a) determining whether a beacon signal input from an access point (AP) to a mobile node (MN) contains border information indicating that the AP is located at the border of its subnet, the AP connecting the MN to a wired network; and (b) selectively performing a handover between subnets based on the determination results obtained in (a). Accordingly, unnecessary communications between an MN and an AR are prevented by providing predetermined information, based on which the MN can determine whether to perform only an L2 handover or both the L2 handover and an L3 handover.

Abstract: A ring buffer management system includes a layer interface, which transmits an occupied buffer size or a free buffer size of the ring buffer to a low layer module and/or a high layer module of a TCP/IP stack; a pointer update interface, which calculates a temporary pointer based on a current pointer of the ring buffer and a data size necessary for the high layer module or the low layer module; and a pointer manager, which stores the current pointer of the ring buffer, updates the ring buffer by using the temporary pointer, and calculates the occupied buffer size and the free buffer size of the ring buffer to transmit the calculated occupied buffer size and the free buffer size to the layer interface, so that it is possible to prevent data transmission delay and efficiently manage the ring buffer because the high/low layer module of the TCP/IP stack can appropriately determine a transmit/receive data size.

The apparatus includes an on-off-link determining unit that determines whether a destination node is onlink or offlink based on a unified cache storing information on nodes connected to a predetermined network, an onlink equal address entry detecting unit that detects from the unified cache an entry storing a network layer address that matches a network layer address of the destination node determined as onlink, and a first link layer address determining unit that determines a link layer address stored in the entry detected by the onlink equal address entry detecting unit as a link layer address of a next hop node.

Abstract: An IPv6 header receiving apparatus and an IPv6 header processing method includes a register with a data size that is a multiple of an octet and modules for an IPv6 basic header or various types of IPv6 extended headers. The register receives IPv6 header data in units of an octet, stores the IPv6 header data, and transmits the stored IPv6 header data to an IPv6 processing module for that corresponds to the IPv6 header data. The modules receive the IPv6 header data from the register and process the IPv6 header data. Accordingly, IPv6 header data can be processed in real-time without wasting memory.
