Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, systems, computer program products for importing a dataset comprising content for technical documentation for an item provided as a plurality of data modules adhering to S1000D standards and a data source comprising content for the technical documentation for the item provided as a plurality of files not adhering to S1000D standards into an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation via an IETM viewer. In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: converting each data module for the dataset into a file in JSON format; converting each file for the data source into a file in JSON format; storing each of the files in JSON format in the IETM, wherein the content for the technical documentation from both the dataset and the data source can be accessed interchangeably within the IETM.

In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: receiving a selection of a topic by a user to view information for the topic; and responsive to receiving the selection: determining whether the user is signed into the IETM for a specific object; and responsive to the user being signed in for the object: determining whether each applicability element found in the information is related to the object; and generating and providing a window to display the information in which each applicability element related to the object is configured as viewable and selectable by the user and each applicability element not related to the object is configured as not viewable.

In various embodiments, a sign-in window is provided comprising a dataset field, a unit field, and an object field. A selection of a dataset for an item is made and in response, selectable units are displayed for the unit field. Responsive to a selection of a unit, selectable objects are displayed for the object field based on the selected unit and dataset. Responsive to a selection of an object, a sign-in mechanism is made available that can be used to sign in a user to access the IETM via the IETM viewer, wherein the IETM tracks and records activities performed or content accessed by the user while signed into the IETM.

Input is received from the user selecting a topic of a component of the model that comprises instructions for performing a task related to the component. Responsive to receiving the input, the instructions are displayed on the interface and the instructions identify a tool used in performing the task. Responsive to the user moving her line of vision to view a non-powered asset in which the tool is located, a visual representation of the tool is displayed on the interface superimposed over the non-powered asset viewable in the user's line of vision.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure involve providing an augmented reality environment to a user interacting with technical data associated with a powered asset. In various embodiments, a digital model of the powered asset is displayed via an augmented reality user interface that displays the model superimposed over the user's line of vision to simulate the augmented reality environment. Input is received from the user selecting a topic of a component of the model that comprises instructions for performing a task related to the component. Responsive to receiving the input, the instructions are displayed on the interface and the instructions identify a tool used in performing the task. Responsive to the user moving her line of vision to view a non-powered asset in which the tool is located, a visual representation of the tool is displayed on the interface superimposed over the non-powered asset viewable in the user's line of vision.
