  • Patent number: 9582380
Abstract: A network device and method may provide secure fallback operations. The device includes a port allowing the device to communicate with a network and a processor to generate a security credential, provide the security credential to a call manager during initialization, and provide the security credential to a secondary device during fallback operations. The network device may include a memory to store the security credential and routing information for fallback operations.

  • Patent number: 8171146
Abstract: An apparatus and method for negotiating media capabilities is described. The method may comprise receiving an invite to establish a connection between a caller endpoint device and one of a plurality of callee endpoint devices of a shared line and identifying an initial common media capability between the caller endpoint device and the plurality of endpoint devices. Thereafter, the method may comprise negotiating a connection between the caller endpoint device and the callee endpoint device using the common media capability and determining if the caller endpoint device and the callee endpoint device have a common enhanced media capabilities. The connection may be re-negotiated using the enhanced media capability.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 7830865
Abstract: A method for providing supplementary services in a packet voice network. The method includes the steps of receiving a list of information elements from a sending station and then inserting the list into a call control message. The message is inserted in such a manner as to ensure that any supplementary services information included in the information elements is preserved. In addition locally significant messages are included in a globally significant message so any supplementary services information in the locally significant messages is preserved. After the supplementary services information is preserved, the messages are sent to a receiving station. A network device operable to provide this functionality is also discussed.
