  • Patent number: 6629707
Abstract: A pipe jointing unit includes a cylindrical joint in which is accommodated a pipe, a ring-shaped seal member positioned in the joint, an elastic connecting member positioned in the joint and holding the pipe and the ring-shaped seal member in the joint, and a guide member detachably connected to the joint. The guide has an annular guide portion which is disposed circumferentially between the inner surface of the edge portion of the joint and the outer surface of the pipe. The pipe is thus restricted from swinging in the radial direction relatively against the joint and the reliability of the resistance force against pulling the pipe out of the connecting member by vehicle vibration, an increase of the internal pressure of the pipe and the like is improved.

  • Patent number: 6045647
Abstract: A laminating blow molding method for making a hollow article includes steps of: laminating a resin sheet on an outer surface of a parison extruded from a path between a die head and a core; sandwiching the parison with the resin sheet between a pair of mold pieces constituting a mold while heating the mold to a temperature exceeding softening temperatures of the resin sheet and the parison, one of the mold pieces having shifting members at side portions thereof; closing the mold so that the parison with the resin sheet is held inside the mold, and moving the shifting members to the other of the mold pieces so that overhangs at both ends of the parison and resin sheet are pressed rearwardly to shift rearwardly burrs which are pressed out from the mold; and blowing the parison to perform blow molding. Thereafter, the mold is cooled and the molded article is taken out. In the method, a front side of the molded article is formed smoothly.

  • Patent number: 5346666
Abstract: An improved process and apparatus for blow molding of engineering plastic materials, using a mold and an extrusion machine with a die for producing a hollow plastic parison to be partially received in the mold. An extrusion operation and a preblowing operation with air from the die into the parison are concurrently commenced at a high extrusion speed and a low air pressure, with a material remaining in the die being integrated with an upstream portion of a preceding parison prepared in a preceding blow molding run, to complete the downstream parison. The upstream portion has a closed and free lower end prepared in the preceding run. The apparatus is provided with a pinching and cutting device for self-adhering and separating the completed parison above and in the vicinity of the mold to prepare the above mentioned closed free end.

  • Patent number: 5281126
Abstract: A blow molding die includes a housing, and a mandrel with a core integrated therewith, combined to form a vertically extending annular melt passage communicating with a hole formed at its top portion for feeding a plasticized resin melt from an extruder, and terminating at die lips formed at its free bottom end. The mandrel has a pair or grooves symmetrical relative to its axis, formed at its peripheral surface so as to have hanger type profiles in its front developed view, and connecting to each other at lower ends thereof. The feed hole opens to the symmetrical hanger type grooves at top and central points thereof. Each groove has an arced surface and a cross-sectional area decreasing in a direction from the top and central point to the lower end.

  • Patent number: 5273421
Abstract: An improved injection blow molding machine has an melt accumulator or melt metering chamber and a vertically extending oval type die communicating therewith for injecting an elliptical annular parison through the die, which is to be blow molded to produce a hollow double wall type article. The oval type die includes a die housing and a mandrel mounted therein to define a melt passage therebetween having a die lip or opening of a four sided elliptical annular profile at a free lower end of the die. The accumulator is in direct contact with the mandrel, and/or the die housing is enlarged in a horizontal direction at a lower end portion thereof. Preferably the enlarged lower end portion is formed by a plate part fixed to a block part forming an upper portion of the die housing.

  • Patent number: 5190715
Abstract: A blow molding process of producing molded articles including the steps of extruding a parison of the plasticized material from a die into a gap between mold halves while the mold is open and blowing gas into the parison, while the mold is closed, to have the parison form a molded hollow article within the mold. The parison is heated before molding by heating the inner shell contoured parts of the mold at the surfaces thereof and the plasticized material at the outer surface by using an instantaneous radiation heater disposed in the mold half gap to partially encompass the parison while the mold is open and the inner shell contoured part is heated by a heating medium passed through the heat medium passages. The molded article is cooled by cooling the mold at the inner shell contoured parts thereof by flowing a cooling medium through the heat medium passages of the mold while the mold is closed. The cooling of the mold occurs alternately with the heating of the mold by the heating medium.

  • Patent number: 5017126
Abstract: An apparatus for blow-molding a hollow double wall type article using a mold incorporated with a heating and cooling system. The mold consists of male and female mold halves, each composed of an outer shell area having a contoured cavity surface part and an inner heat insulating area defined within the outer shell area. The cavity surface part is made of mainly of a metallic material having a high thermal conductivity, and the inner heat insulating area is provided therein with a reinforcing block for reinforcing the outer shell area against a blow molding pressure and a mold clamping pressure. The inner heat insulating area provides a substantial thermal insulation against a transmission of heat thereto from the cavity surface part. The reinforcing block may be formed of a non-metallic material having a low thermal conductivity. Preferably, the block is permeably porous so that it provides heat medium passages for the heating and cooling system.
