  • Patent number: 6332783
Abstract: A circuit module comprising a circuit board, a high-voltage element electrically connected to the circuit board, and an electrically insulting cover covering the high-voltage element. The high-voltage element has a first output terminal for outputting a reference voltage and a second output terminal for outputting a voltage higher than the reference voltage. The cover includes a connector section. The connector section has a first connection terminal, a second connection terminal, and a partition. The first connection terminal is electrically connected to the first output terminal, and the second connection terminal is electrically connected to the second output terminal. The first and second connection terminals are spaced apart. The partition is provided between the first and second connection terminals, isolating the connection terminals from each other.

  • Patent number: 6064179
Abstract: A battery charge circuit using a constant voltage/constant current to power charge a plurality of battery packs, a current detection circuit to detect a charge current according to a predetermined value, and control mechanisms to maintain a constant voltage charge mode when the charge current value drops below a set value within the battery pack.

  • Patent number: 6060864
Abstract: In a battery-driven portable computer, a battery pack is constituted by m battery sets connected in series each including n lithium-ion secondary battery cells connected in parallel. A voltage monitor for monitoring the voltage of the terminal electrode of each battery set and a charger for independently appropriately charging each battery set in accordance with a monitor result are arranged, thereby realizing battery driving by a lithium-ion secondary battery pack having a large capacity. A computer system monitors the voltages of the battery cells which are part of a secondary battery by comparing the battery voltages with a predetermined voltage value in order to detect overdischarge (undervoltage) or overcharge (overvoltage), outputs this information outside of the battery pack, and terminates processing prior to a circuit disconnect.

  • Patent number: 5831412
Abstract: A system comprises a rechargeable battery charged with a constant voltage and a charger. The battery includes a storage unit storing identification data and control voltage data and the charger is assigned identification data. The charger reads the identification data from the storage unit and charges the battery in accordance with the control voltage data, if the stored identification data coincides with the assigned charger identification data. If the stored identification data does not coincide with the assigned charger identification data, the charger gradually increases a charge voltage while detecting overvoltage of the battery, calculates a control voltage of the charger, and charges the battery in accordance with the calculated control voltage.

  • Patent number: 5694021
Abstract: A system comprises a rechargeable battery charged with a constant voltage and a charger. The battery includes a storage unit storing charge voltage data. The charger reads the charge voltage data from the storage unit and charges the battery in accordance with the read charge voltage data. In one aspect, the charger is assigned identification data to identify the charger and charge the battery. In another aspect, a charge controller includes a full-charge detecting means for detecting that the battery is fully charged based upon current measured from the battery.
