  • Patent number: 5395520
Abstract: A fuel filter contained in a fuel tank improves fuel permeability without deteriorating foreign matter catching ability. Filter cloths of the fuel filter is of a double structure wherein an outer (or inner) filter is of a plain weave, while an inner (or outer) filter is of a tatami-facing like weave.

  • Patent number: 4844621
Abstract: A fuel pump of regenerative type mounted in a fuel tank. The fuel pump has a pump housing defining a pump chamber, an impeller rotatably mounted in the pump housing and provided with a multiplicity of blades formed thereon, and a driving device for driving the impeller. The fuel pump further has a vapor relief port for relieving, from the pump chamber into the space in the fuel tank, vapor of fuel generated as a result of rotation of the impellar, and a vapor relief extension passage connected to the vapor relief port and opening at least one end in the space in the fuel tank.

  • Patent number: 4827897
Abstract: In a fuel pump driving apparatus for a vehicle engine including a fuel injection system, the selection of a plurality of energizing circuits each formed by the combination of two or all of three brushes of a fuel pump drive motor is effected in accordance with the load conditions of the engine, thereby changing the rotational speed of the motor and hence the fuel quantity delivered from the fuel pump. When the occurrence of a fault in one of the energizing circuits is detected, the driver is informed of the occurrence of the fault and in addition a faulty-condition controller controls switching means in such a manner that the drive motor is energized through another one of the energizing circuits.

  • Patent number: 4784587
Abstract: A pump apparatus comprises a pump housing, an impeller having a plurality of radial grooves rotatably disposed within the pump housing, first and second fluid passages each defined by the impeller and the pump housing at both sides of the impeller, a motor having an output shaft for driving the impeller, a first radial clearance between the impeller and the output shaft of the motor, and a second radial clearance between an outer peripheral surface of the impeller and the pump housing, which is smaller than the first clearance.

  • Patent number: 4508492
Abstract: A motor driven fuel pump adapted for use with a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine has a pump housing and an impeller of regenerative pump type rotatably disposed in the housing and provided with circumferential rows of grooves formed in the opposite end faces of the impeller along the outer peripheral edges thereof. The housing is formed therein with suction and discharge ports and cooperates with the impeller to define a fuel pressurizing passage extending circumferentially of the impeller and surrounding the grooved outer peripheral section thereof. The fuel pressurizing passage is circumferentially interrupted by a partition wall disposed between the suction and discharge ports and extending radially inwardly into close contacting relationship to the outer peripheral section of the impeller to prevent flow of fuel from the discharge port toward the suction port.

  • Patent number: 4212601
Abstract: A motor pump comprises a DC motor unit, a pump unit and a cover housing for the motor and pump unit; the motor unit includes a cup-shaped yoke with the bottom having a bearing, and a bearing holder is fitted into an opening in the cup-shaped yoke to thereby hold an armature shaft of the motor unit in position with respect to the yoke. The pump unit has a pump stator secured to the bottom of said cup-shaped yoke and a pump rotor connected to the armature shaft by key arrangement. The pump stator has a passage communicating the gap in the key arrangement and the pump inlet. As a result, fuel in the gap is prevented from stagnating therein, thereby preventing rusting of the pump components.
