  • Publication number: 20040005616
Abstract: A method of isolating nucleic acid in a sample, which comprises preparing an aqueous solution comprising the sample, a first water-soluble polymer, a second water-soluble polymer capable of forming two aqueous phases with the first water-soluble polymer, and a surfactant, and keeping the aqueous solution still to let the solution separate into two aqueous phases, and separating the nucleic acid and the other components in different phases.

  • Patent number: 6664113
Abstract: A method for detecting fluorescence from a liquid sample housed in a transparent or translucent sample container includes providing a sample container in a sample holder, which is opaque except for a sample container introduction opening and incoming and outgoing openings for excitation light; layering a liquid sample and a shielding liquid unmixable therewith to prevent external light from entering through the sample container introduction opening; introducing excitation light from such a direction that the excitation light can irradiate the liquid sample before irradiating the shielding liquid; and detecting fluorescence, which emits in a direction of avoiding absorption by the shielding liquid.

  • Publication number: 20030026705
Abstract: The present invention provides a simple liquid transportation method without requiring high electric voltage or special external equipment, and a method for transporting liquid based on this transportation method. The liquid transportation method comprises a step of introducing a magnetic fluid and a liquid to be transported into a conduit or a chamber connected thereto so that the magnetic fluid and the liquid to be transported are in contact with each other directly or indirectly via a medium, a step of moving the magnetic fluid by applying a magnetic field, and a step of moving above-mentioned liquid to be transported by letting it follow the movement of the magnetic fluid. The present invention also provides a simple transportation method of a specific amount of liquid without requiring high voltage or incorporation of specific actuator components such as valves.

  • Patent number: 6515743
Abstract: A fluorescence detection apparatus comprising: a sample holder for fixing and holding sample vessels on a circular arc; a partition plate being joined to drive means for rotation on the center of the circular arc; an excitation light source; excitation light optical means; and fluorescence optical means containing a light guide being fixed on the partition plate for rotation integrally and a photosensor. The photosensor is mechanically discontinued from the drive means and fixedly placed. The fluorescence signal emission end of the light guide is placed facing the photosensor on the rotation center axis and the partition plate and the parts fixed thereto are rotated integrally, whereby fluorescence detection of the samples arranged on the circular arc is repeated in order.

  • Patent number: 5039735
Abstract: A room temperature vulcanizable organopolysiloxane composition comprising a diorganopolysiloxane blocked with a hydroxyl group at opposite ends of the molecular chain of the diorganopolysiloxane, a silane or siloxane compound having at least three hydrolyzable groups in the molecule, a filler, and a curing catalyst. The composition further comprises a specific type of amide compound whereby the composition is readily released from electric or electronic parts after having been vulcanized and dipped in a hot soldering bath.
