  • Patent number: 5249541
Abstract: A feed regulator of a sewing machine capable of varying a seam length at the stitching operation employs a first driving device for swingably driving a feed regulating table by way of a link mechanism so that a feed dog can switch the feed direction, whereby a reverse stitching operation can be performed in the same way as the conventional feed regulator. The feed regulator also employs a link mechanism having one surface for retaining the projection of the link member having a slit, one surface of which can retain the projection of the link mechanism, and a second driving device for driving the link member, whereby the reverse stitching operation can be performed by second driving device in the arbitrary seam length.

  • Patent number: 5137128
Abstract: A magnetic particle type electromagnetic clutch has two clutch discs so disposed that the two discs can be electromagnetically connected together and disconnected. In a space between the two discs are charged magnetic particles. When an excitation current is run through the excitation coil disposed near the two discs to produce a magnetic flux, the two discs and magnetic particles are magnetized to be connected in unison, thereby transmitting a torque from the drive shaft to the driven shaft. The two discs are each secured to the tip end of the shafts. The shaft has two groups of magnetic layers which are rigidly affixed to the shaft and axially spaced. Each of the groups of magnetic layers is directed + 45 degrees or - 45 degrees with respect to the axis of the shaft. When the shafts start to rotate, magnetostriction is developed in the respective magnetic layers resulting in a change in permeability.

  • Patent number: 5020462
Abstract: A slackened needle thread assuring unit includes a thread tension member mounted on a side wall of a frame secured to the bed of a sewing machine. A thread takeup is positioned above the thread tension member. A needle/bobbin thread cutter is positioned apart from and under the frame for cutting a needle thread. A thread end holder holds an end of the thread to be cut by the needle/bobbin thread cutter. A thread guide extending across the front portion of the frame has one end supported by a support plate and the other free end defining a hook. A drive mechanism supported by the support plate reciprocally moves the hook in the direction substantially perpendicular to the threading direction of the needle thread.

  • Patent number: 5003901
Abstract: A feeding adjusting dial has at an inner circumferential surface thereof a plurality of teeth fixed to a stopper defined in the body of an arm of the sewing machine at both sides of the feeding rate adjusting shaft meshes with one of the plurality of teeth of the feeding rate adjusting dial. The feeding rate adjusting shaft is screwed into the body of the arm at a portion thereof and has a tip end thereof brought into contact with a cam surface of a feeding adjusting cam. The feeding adjusting cam is connected to a feeding adjusting table via a link. The feeding rate adjusting shaft comprises a first member, a second member and an elastic coupling for connecting the first and second members. One of the first and second members is screwed into the body of the arm of the sewing machine.
