  • Patent number: 7564647
Abstract: A magnetic disc apparatus has a ramp holding the magnetic head in a position apart from the magnetic disc and a filter case holding a filter in the state of being bent in such a manner that the filter surrounds the ramp together with the magnetic disc. The filter removes dust in airflow which flows in the magnetic disc apparatus accompanying the rotation of the magnetic disc.

  • Patent number: 7554762
Abstract: First and second shroud surfaces are defined along an imaginary cylinder coaxial to a recording disk. A shroud plate is located between the first and second shroud surfaces. Airflow flows outward along the surface of the rotating recording disk based on the centrifugal force. The shroud plate serves to establish the continuity of the first and second shroud surfaces. The first and second shroud surfaces and the shroud plate serve to reliably suppress turbulence of the airflow. Vibration of the recording disk is suppressed than ever. An inflow opening is located in a space between the first and second shroud surfaces. The rectifier plate is located downstream of the inflow opening. The rectifier plate serves to direct the airflow flowing along the first shroud surface to the inflow opening. A larger amount of airflow can be introduced into the inflow opening. A dust catcher receives airflow of a sufficient amount.

  • Patent number: 7511000
Abstract: A gear part of the present invention includes a lubrication coating formed on a surface of the gear part, the lubrication coating containing an organic phosphorous compound. In the gear part, when a tooth surface of the gear part is engaged with a tooth surface of a counter member, the organic phosphorous compound is transferred to the tooth surface of the counter member and another lubrication coating containing the organic phosphorous compound is formed on the tooth surface of the counter member. As a result, the lubrication coating can be held on the surface of the gear part for long periods.

  • Patent number: 7457084
Abstract: A hard disk drive includes a base having a bottom plate. A magnetic body is embedded in the bottom plate. The magnetic body is allowed to serve as a magnetic shield in the hard disk drive. The magnetic body is allowed to have a sufficient thickness without requiring an additional space outside the base, since the magnetic body is embedded in the base. The magnetic field directed outside the base can reliably be absorbed at the magnetic body. The magnetic body may be received in a depression defined in the bottom plate. The depression may be formed based on a reduction in the thickness of the bottom plate.

  • Publication number: 20080100967
Abstract: A magnetic disk device includes a swing-type head actuator which is driven by a voice coil motor. The voice coil motor is cooled by an airflow generated when a magnetic disk accommodated in a disk accommodating unit of an enclosure is rotated by a spindle motor. An airflow dividing member provided on an inner wall or a base of an actuator accommodating unit divides the airflow generated by the rotation of the disk and passing along the inner wall. The divided airflow is introduced to a coil part of the voice coil motor, and cools the coil, without sacrificing the dust purge performance.

  • Publication number: 20050185324
Abstract: A first shroud and a second shroud are opposed to the peripheral end surface of a recording disk at a certain constant distance. The second shroud is spaced downstream from the first shroud in the direction of the rotation of the recording disk. A shroud plate is opposed to the peripheral end surface of the recording disk at a position between the first and second shrouds. The shroud plate functions as a shroud. The shroud plate serves to suppress turbulence of airflow. Vibration of the recording disk can be suppressed. Moreover, if the shroud plate is designed to extend along a virtual plane perpendicular to the rotation axis of the recording disk, the airflow is prevented from staying between the first and second shrouds. The airflow can effectively be taken out. The airflow can effectively be utilized.
