  • Patent number: 6268693
Abstract: In a cathode ray tube us a glass panel having a difference in thickness between a central region and a peripheral region of a face portion, the glass panel having an outer surface with a colored film formed thereon, the colored film being thin in film thickness in an area corresponding to a thick part of the face portion of the glass panel and thick in film thickness in an area corresponding to a thin part of the face portion of the glass panel so as to reduce the difference in transmittance resulting from the difference in thickness between the central region and the peripheral region of the face portion of the glass panel. As another embodiment, the colored film comprises a film having a light color tone in an area corresponding to a thick part of the face portion of the glass panel and a dark color tone in an area corresponding to a thin part of the face portion of the glass panel.

Each substrate glass used in the plasma display unit essentially consists by weight of 50-65% SiO.sub.2, 2-15% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, 0-4% MgO, 0-2.9% CaO, 2-13% SrO, 0.5-13% BaO, 10-27% MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO, 0-1% Li.sub.2 O, 2-10% Na.sub.2 O, 2-13% K.sub.2 O, 7-15% Li.sub.2 +Na.sub.2 O+K.sub.2 O, 1-9% ZrO.sub.2, 0-5% TiO.sub.2, 0-1% Sb.sub.2 O.sub.3, and 0-1% As.sub.2 O.sub.3. The substrate glass exhibits small thermal contraction even if subjected to heat treatment at a temperature of 570.degree. C. or more, has a coefficient of thermal expansion of 75-95.times.10.sup.-7 /.degree. C., and is high in volume resistivity and excellent in chemical durability as compared with a soda lime glass.

  • Patent number: 4285890
Abstract: A method for manufacturing silicone lenses by use of a mold of specific structure is provided. The mold comprises a male section and a female section each of which has a mold surface plated with chromium, hard chromium or nickel. Both sections when joined together come into line contact with each other to define a mold cavity therebetween. With this type of mold, the method of the present invention is carried out in such a manner that a silicone resin material is cast into the mold cavity and the mold is heated in hot water until the material is cured. The cured material makes itself a finished contact lens of excellent quality.

  • Patent number: 4138086
Abstract: A mold for manufacturing silicone contact lenses is provided. The mold comprises a male section and a female section plated with chromium or nickel which when joined together come into contact with each other only at a portion at which the mold surface of one section becomes continuous with that of the other section to define a cavity therebetween. The contact between both sections is not in a flat-to-flat fashion but in a line or edge-to-edge fashion so that a contact lens whose surface and edge are completely freed from flashes or irregularities can be obtained. Further, with the use of chromium or nickel plated mold of the present invention, a contact lens of excellent quality can be obtained from a silicone resin which is affinitive to chromium and nickel.
