  • Patent number: 5386179
Abstract: An electroluminescent device including an electroluminescent cell, and a switching element connected to the electroluminescent cell. The switching element has an offset area and a unit for applying a voltage to the offset area. According to the electroluminescent device, a higher withstand voltage for the switching element can be obtained, and an adequate flow of drain current in the switching element is insured.

  • Patent number: 5315146
Abstract: A semiconductor memory device includes a gate region of each driver transistor arranged obliquely with respect to a first direction of a chip; a source/drain region of each driver transistor arranged obliquely with respect to the first direction; contact windows arranged substantially straight with respect to the first direction and connecting each source/drain region of the driver transistors to a power supply line provided in the first direction; and contact windows arranged every one contact window in a zigzag manner with respect to the first direction and connecting each source/drain region of transfer gate transistors to a corresponding bit line. By the constitution, it is possible to reduce an area of memory cell regions resulting in a reduction in a chip area, and to cause respective driver transistors to have uniform characteristics and thus improve an operation reliability thereof.

  • Patent number: 5280456
Abstract: A semiconductor memory device enabling change of the output organization has a plurality of memory cell array portions each having a plurality of memory cells for storing data, a plurality of data buses for transferring data, a plurality of sense amplifiers for sensing data of a selected memory cell of the memory cell array portions, and a plurality of output gates connected to the sense amplifiers. At least two of the sense amplifiers are connected to each of the memory cell array portions through the data buses, respectively. The selection of the sense amplifiers is controlled to be activated or deactivated by control signals, to thereby change the output organization. Therefore, a delay in data transmission can be eliminated, and a high speed operation can be realized.

  • Patent number: 5235253
Abstract: A thin film electroluminescent EL device drive circuit which is capable of applying an AC pulse signal to EL elements contained in the EL device to thereby perform high luminance drive of the EL devices and realize AC pulse drive. With such a drive circuit, it is possible to reduce supply current capacity and power consumption.

  • Patent number: 5095248
Abstract: An electroluminescent device driving circuit comprising first and second switching devices, a dividing capacitor, an electroluminescent device, a driving power supply, and a current limiting resistor disposed in series between the second switching device and the electroluminescent device is described. The electroluminescent device illuminates when the second switching device is in the on-state (closed). When the second switching device is in the off-state (open), however, the electroluminescent device does not emit light. Since a current limiting resistor is disposed in series with the electroluminescent device and the second switching device, the current that flows through the second switching device when the electroluminescent device is illuminated is reduced. Further, in the event that the second switching device is turned off, it is possible to limit the amount of discharging current from a capacitive load.

The electroluminescent device illuminates when the second switching device is in an off-state (open). When the second switching device is in an on-state (closed), however, the electroluminescent device does not emit light. The second switching device can readily incorporate an offset drain structure.
