  • Patent number: 4829331
Abstract: A camera having an auto-focus device includes a circuit for compensating the aperture value in response to changes of the zoom lens. A focus detection circuit detects the focus condition of first and second objects in the field of view. An aperture calculation circuit determines a signal corresponding to a difference between the in-focus position of the lens to the first object and the in-focus position of the lens to the second object. The aperture value is determined when both objects fall within the depth of field on the basis of the difference signal. The compensation circuit compensates the aperture value in response to the change of the zoom lens. The compensated aperture value is determined so that the first and second objects are both within the depth of field of the changed zoom state.
