  • Patent number: 6292593
Abstract: A one-dimensional image synthesizing unit 3 images an subject, and produces a plurality of image-to-be-combined signals expressing images-to-be-combined having overlapped regions. A central processing unit 5 first obtains matching of images of the subject for each of adjacent images-to-be-combined for all image-to-be-combined signals by center and large block matching processes, and detects the deviations of overlapped regions from the obtained matching. Next, in a small block matching process, on the basis of the deviations of the overlapped regions, a plurality of reference blocks and search regions are made to correspond to each other and are set in the respective overlapped regions, and the deviations of the images of the subject are detected in a unit of each search region in more detail than the deviations detected by the large block matching process.

  • Patent number: 6215914
Abstract: A picture processing apparatus which can reduce matching errors and shorten a processing time for matching. In the picture processing apparatus, a binarization circuit individually binarizes a pair of object picture signals to generate line picture signals. A feature point extract circuit extracts a plurality of feature point pixels for each reference area in the reference side line picture. A transforming circuit widens a line width of the search side line picture. A correlation computation circuit, for each reference area, finds a correlation between each pixel within a search area in the line picture whose line width has been widened and the feature point pixels. A composition processing section composites the pair of object picture signals based on the correlations. A picture processing apparatus which can adjust density and color tone of two pictures to be composited.

  • Patent number: 5912992
Abstract: It is possible to clearly extract objects such as characters and line figures by eliminating the effect of shading from an input image containing self-shaded objects and/or vaguely contoured objects together with distinctly contoured object and thereby to extract all objects clearly and completely. A sample point setting portion sets sample points, a sample point shade calculating portion determines an optical density of shading at each sample point according to an optical density distribution of pixels in a reference block including the sample point at the center thereof. A shade calculating portion determines shade densities at the other points than the sample points and generates shade image, a shade removing portion generates a shade-removed image by removing the shading effect from the input image by using the shade image. A quantizing portion binarizes the shade-removed image and an image output portion outputs the obtained binary image.

  • Patent number: 5838837
Abstract: An image synthesizing device in which partial images can be rapidly processed (for example, by enlarging, reducing, turning) and synthesized. When synthesizing information for partial images stored in a partial image storage portion is calculated by a synthesizing data calculating portion, accessible rectangular areas, which consist each of a plurality of pixel rows and columns, of partial images stored in the partial image storage portion are accessed one by one by a partial image accessing portion and each of accessed areas is processed by enlarging or reducing or turning on the basis of the calculation results given from the synthesizing data calculating portion. The processed partial images whose areas have been enlarged, reduced or turned, are synthesized by a partial image synthesizing portion on the basis of the synthesizing information, and a synthesized image is stored in a synthesized image storage portion.

  • Patent number: 5670785
Abstract: A charge converter converts a positive ion into a negative ion. The charge converter is provided with a housing for containing a solid magnesium. A primary heater is also provided in the housing for heating up the solid magnesium to generate a sublimated evaporation of magnesium which fills within the housing. The housing is formed with a pair of beam passage holes through which a positive beam passes the housing. A secondary heater is further provided in the vicinity of the paired beam passage holes for heating the beam passage holes so as to prevent re-crystallization and adhesion of magnesium evaporation on an inner wall of each of the beam passage holes. A ternary heater may further optionally be provided entirely and uniformly around the housing for keeping a uniform distribution in temperature of the housing so as to keep a uniform temperature distribution of the solid magnesium to elongate a time during which the necessary magnesium evaporation is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5369715
Abstract: A histogram is prepared using the heights of characters in an input alphanumeric character image data set. Based on this histogram, reference line characters are detected from the character row. The upper and lower extracting ordinates of each character in the character row are obtained. Then, the average of each of the upper and lower extracting ordinates in the character row is determined as the ordinate of a reference line for the character row. Thus obtained reference line is used for character recognition.
