  • Patent number: 7867141
Abstract: A physical activity measuring system analyzes analyzing body motions of a user to accurately determine the exercise intensity. The system includes a portable device which is adapted to be carried by the user and is equipped with a body sensor and an indicator for indication of the exercise intensity. The body sensor senses the user's body motions to give corresponding motion strength. The portable device has a processor which constitutes an exercise calculator which has a predetermined relationship between a default standard deviation of the motion strength and an exercise intensity scale. The exercise intensity calculator collects a time series data of the motion strengths within a predetermined first time frame, obtains a standard deviation of thus collected motion strengths, and converting the standard deviation into an instant exercise intensity within the intensity scale in accordance with the predetermined relationship.

  • Publication number: 20100130890
Abstract: An activity measurement system gives, based upon consecutively measured activity intensities, an exercise index (EX) indicative of energetic exercise and a daily activity index (DA) indicative of a routine living activity within a predetermined measurement time period, and display an activity element A (x, y), a combination of these indexes within an X-Y matrix plane. The exercise index (EX) is calculated at a first operation means as a sum of a product of the activity intensity exceeds a predetermined reference and a time period during which the activity intensity exceeds the reference, within the measurement time period. The daily activity index (DA) is calculated at a second operation means as a caloric consumption divided by a basal metabolic rate of a user within the measurement time period. The caloric consumption is determined a function of the activity intensity per unit time below the reference and data indicative of physical characteristics of the user.

  • Publication number: 20100100012
Abstract: An activity intensity measurement device comprises an accelerator, a sampling means, a representative value calculation means, a sampling means, a representative value calculation means, and an activity intensity determination means. The sampling means is configured to sample discrete values from the detected acceleration. The representative value calculation means is configured to calculate the representative value from the discrete values of a plurality of the acceleration. The activity intensity determination means is configured to determine the activity intensity on the basis of the calculated representative value. The representative value calculation means is configured to calculate the representative value at intervals of unit period corresponding to the user's particular activity. Consequently, all of the user's particular activity is reflected to the representative value. Therefore, this activity intensity measurement device is configured to calculate exact activity intensity.

  • Patent number: 6420613
Abstract: A method of preparing a reduced product by efficiently reducing an unsaturated organic compound by using, as a reducing agent, a trichlorosilane which is industrially cheaply available and is easy to handle, and a reducing agent therefor. A reduced product of an unsaturated organic compound is obtained by mixing the unsaturated organic compound and a trichlorosilane together to reduce the unsaturated organic compound in the presence of a compound that forms a silicon complex having five coordinations upon acting on the trichlorosilane such as an N-formylated product of a secondary amine having not less than 3 carbon atoms. The invention further provides a reducing agent comprising a particular silicon complex.

  • Patent number: 6121614
Abstract: A pyroelectric-type IR receiving element comprises a pyroelectric substrate which is fixed to a supporting body at its support ends and at least one rectangular patch formed in the substrate. The patch is formed on its opposite surfaces with first and second electrodes which are overlapped to each other. The substrate has a U-shaped slit composed of a pair of side slits and a base slit connecting the side slits. The U-shaped slit surrounds continuously three sides of the patch, so that the patch is supported by the substrate in a cantilever fashion at a cantilever end which is opposed to one of the support ends of the substrate. Since a thermal stress applied to the substrate when the substrate is exposed to a temperature change is absorbed by the U-shaped slit, a stress concentration to be considered is not developed in the patch. As a result, it is possible to reduce the occurrence of popcorn noise, while maintaining good IR sensitivity.

  • Patent number: 4808107
Abstract: A pulse combustion system in which a single air intake assembly is associated with a plurality of pulse combustion gaseous fuel heater assemblies. The air intake assembly includes a blower arranged to supply combustion air to the heater assemblies, and the heater assemblies each includes a pulse combustion burner arranged to be supplied with gaseous fuel from a source of gaseous fuel and the combustion air from the blower. A tailpipe is connected to the combustion chamber of the burner and arranged therewith within a water tub or an oil vessel. An electric control appartus for the system selectively activates the heater assemblies, energizes a motor of the blower for a predetermined period of time prior to selective activation of the heater assemblies and energizes the motor of the blower for a second predetermined period of time after one of the heater assemblies has been deactivated during activation of the other heater assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4804235
Abstract: A vehicle air brake system including a deceleration sensing device having a piston cooperating with a lever carrying a magnetic roller for operating a reed switch. Movement of the piston depends upon the magnitude of the air pressure acting on it, and such pressure is proportional to the degree of brake energization. Movement of the piston moves the lever to vary the degree of deceleration required to move the roller for operating the reed switch. Operation of the reed switch operates an electro-magnetic valve to modulate the degree of braking force applied to the front and rear vehicle axles.
