  • Publication number: 20030008406
Abstract: The absolute configuration of a chiral compound is determined by (i) coordinating the chiral compound to a metalloporphyrin having a carbon chain-crosslinked porphyrin dimer structure in which one of the two porphyrin rings has at least one ethyl or substituent bulkier than ethyl at at least one of the second peripheral carbon atoms from the carbon atom at the carbon chain crosslink site, and (ii) analyzing the resultant coordination compound by circular dichroism spectrophotometry to determine the absolute configuration of the asymmetric carbon based on the sign of the Cotton effect. The chiral compound has an asymmetric carbon bonded to a basic group capable of coordinating to the metal of the other porphyrin ring of the metalloporphyrin dimer or an asymmetric carbon atom adjacent to the carbon atom bonded to the basic group.

  • Patent number: 6437194
Abstract: The invention is a preparation process of alkylcyclohexanol alkylene oxide adduct which contains almost no alkylphenol alkylene oxide adduct 1) in the absence of a solvent, 2) in the presence of a saturated hydrocarbon solvent, or 3) in the presence of water. The invention can prepare alkylcyclohexanol alkylene oxide having a 200 ppm or less content of alkylphenol and alkylphenol alkylene oxide adduct. The alkylcyclohexanol alkylene oxide adduct obtained in the process of the invention has less ultraviolet absorption and fluorescence due to alkylphenol alkylene oxide adduct and is thus useful for spectrometric analysis of protein and further has excellent properties in the field of detergent and other common uses of surface active agents.

  • Patent number: 6217445
Abstract: A driving game machine includes an image display processor for displaying on a display monitor a real-time three-dimensional image including a simulated player's automobile, general automobiles, and a three-dimensional road established in a game space in a three-dimensional coordinate system. The three-dimensional road has a running lane and an oncoming lane for the player's and general automobiles to run therealong. The player of the driving game machine operates a driving control assembly including a steering wheel, an accelerator pedal, a brake pedal, and a gear change lever to instruct the player's automobile to run on the three-dimensional road. A player's automobile control unit controls the player's automobile to run on the three-dimensional road in response to instructions from the driving control assembly. The image display processor displays general automobiles on the running lane and the oncoming lane within a visible range of the player's automobile.

  • Patent number: 6142871
Abstract: An image display processor displays a three-dimensional image within a visible range of a player's automobile on a display monitor depending on the position and direction of the player's automobile which is controlled by a player's automobile control unit. A mirror display processor determines whether a displayed mirror is within the visible range of the player's automobile or not based on the position and direction of the player's automobile. When the mirror is within the visible range of the player's automobile, the mirror display processor generates a reflected image. The image display processor then horizontally inverts the generated image, and displays the horizontally inverted image in superposed relation to the displayed mirror.

  • Patent number: 6076346
Abstract: To provide a twisting apparatus in which one of a pair of twisting rollers t1 and t2 is a hollow rubber roller t1, while the other is a hard cylindrical roller t2 in which a rubber band t16 is installed. Twisting efficiency is improved compared to the conventional twisting roller both comprising hollow rubber rollers. Thus, by applying the present invention to a spinning apparatus for manufacturing spun yarn from a fiber set, the spinning speed of the spun yarn can be increased and the spinning range extended.

  • Patent number: 6058097
Abstract: A disk transfer mechanism in a disk player is sloped upward toward the front of the disk player to align a disk transfer plane passing approximately through the center of a disk insertion opening. The slope of the disk transfer plane avoids interference between the disk playback mechanism and electronic components in the vicinity of the front or rear of the disk player. In addition, the slope of the disk transfer plane improves the clearances of a stocker, and thereby enables storage and playback of a maximum number of disks within a predetermined envelope.

  • Patent number: 5881045
Abstract: A disk player has a disk drive mechanism with rollers engaging a perimeter surfaces of a disk. Two rollers engage an upper surface and two roller engage a lower surface. One of the rollers is coupled to a drive source to rotate the disk. Disks are transported upon carriages which are stored in a magazine. The center of each disk is supported upon an idler turntable disposed on a carriage. A selected carriage is moved by a transport mechanism from the magazine to place a disk thereon engagement with the rollers. The upper two rollers bias the center aperture of the disk downward upon the idler turntable as the two lower rollers act as pivots. A stable triangular region of support thus is defined by the two lower rollers and the idler turntable. An optical head is mounted in a fixed position within the chassis and the rollers and turntable are moved to advance the disk over the optical head for scanning.

  • Patent number: 5867473
Abstract: A disk playback device holds a disk in a playback position. A turntable moves toward the disk to a raised position where its support surface is adjacent a back of the disk. A spindle inserts through a center hole of the disk to align the disk with the turntable. A clamper is held above the disk on a side of the disk opposite the turntable. The clamper is supported close enough to the disk that when the turntable is in the raised position, a magnet in the turntable exerts a substantial force on a piece of ferromagnetic material in the clamper. When the clamper is released it clamps the disk to the turntable. By bringing the clamper and turntable to the disk rather than moving the disk toward one or the other, no space is required for the displacement of the disk in a direction perpendicular to its surface. The clamper is supported by a pair of holders, slidable in a direction parallel to the surface of the disk.
