  • Patent number: 10514781
Abstract: A position detection apparatus of the electrostatic coupling type is provided, to detect not only a position of a pointer but also information other than the position information such as, for example, pointer pressure or side switch information. The pointer transmits two codes such that a pressure applied to a pen tip is associated with a time difference between the two codes. A position detector carries out a correlation matching operation between signals generated in reception conductors and correlation calculation codes corresponding to the two codes, to thereby detect a position on a sensor section pointed to by the pointer from a result of the correlation matching operation and based on at least one of the codes.

  • Publication number: 20190235649
Abstract: A method performed by a pen or a pen detection apparatus that detects the pen, the method includes: acquiring a pen pressure level according to a force applied to a pen nib of the pen; generating a pen-down event or a pen-up event based on a result of comparing the pen pressure level and a pen pressure determination threshold; acquiring a proximity value indicating a positional relationship between the pen and the pen detection apparatus from a proximity detector provided on one of the pen and the pen detection apparatus; and updating the pen pressure determination threshold based on the pen pressure level when the proximity value indicates that the positional relationship between the pen and the pen detection apparatus satisfies a predetermined relationship.

  • Patent number: 10345983
Abstract: An inputting apparatus of the electromagnetic induction type may provide a transmission signal of a sufficient signal level to a position indicator. A process controlling unit controls a selection circuit on the basis of a reception state of a reception signal received by each of a plurality of electrodes and detected by a reception signal processing circuit such that a first signal for transmitting a transmission signal is supplied to a first electrode at which the reception signal indicates the highest signal level. Further, the process controlling unit controls the selection circuit such that a second signal is supplied to a second electrode at which the signal level of the reception signal is lower than a predetermined signal level. Consequently, signals can be transmitted to a position indicator from both the first electrode, which most receives the signal from the position indicator, and the second electrode spaced from the first electrode.

  • Patent number: 10031634
Abstract: A system and method are provided to enable the indication positions of respective indicators (e.g., fingers) to be detected (multiple-point detection) and also to enable detection of the users of the indicators (user detection). Signal generators for generating different signals for respective users are provided, and the signals from the signal generators are supplied to a sensor section through indicators. In a multi-touch and multi-user detecting device 1, a transmitting section 200 supplies determined signals to respective transmitting conductors 11Y. Respective receiving conductors 12X receive the signals from the transmitting conductors 11Y and also the signals from the signal generators of the users. Based on these signals, a user-and-position identifying circuit 33A and a position detecting circuit 34A in a receiving section 300A function to detect indication positions indicated by the respective indicators as well as the users using the indicators.

The signal generated by the signal generation circuit is outputted to a sensor provided in a position detection apparatus. The signal generation circuit, in operation, generates a signal of a first signal level and a signal of a second signal level lower than the first signal level. A signal supply controlling circuit, in operation, selectively supplies the signal of the first signal level and the signal of the second signal level generated by the signal generation circuit to the second electrode.
