    Abstract: A cable 20 is provided with a cable body 24a, a metal fitting 22a fixed to at least one end of the cable body, and a covering coat 32a covering at least a portion not covered by a metal fitting on a surface of the cable body. The cable body 24a includes a swelling part 30a on an end at a side on which the metal fitting is fixed, and the swelling part 30a swells in a direction orthogonal to an axis of the cable. The metal fitting 22a surrounds a periphery of the swelling part of the cable body. A tip of the covering coat at the side on which the metal fitting is fixed is located in the metal fitting. The space “a” is formed between the swelling part of the cable body and the tip of the covering coat.

When a primary load is applied to the coil spring 56, a length of the coil spring 56 is 80 to 120 mm, adjacent windings of the first pitch portion are separated from each other, adjacent windings of the second pitch portion are in contact with each other, and the second pitch portion makes contact with a tip end of the guide surface 58b.

Next, a length of the control cable and a condition for connecting the control cable are provided as conditions for a computation (S4 and S5). Then, the given length of the cable, the given condition for connecting the cable, and the obtained characteristic of the control cable are used for a computation model, which was formed by dividing the control cable into a plurality of elements, in order to perform a finite element method, and, thus, a routing arrangement is calculated (S7).

A timing mechanism is provided to sequentially actuate the actuator lever and the auxiliary lever so as to pull the back rest lock-up cable and the seat lock-up cable in turn, releasing the back rest reclining member and the seat locking member respectively to rotate the back rest forward by the back rest reclining member and rotating the seat forward around the front arm of the frame by an action of the urging member.

    Abstract: A device for collapsing a backrest of a backseat of a car for placing in communication a rear trunk with the passenger compartment of the car. The backrest is biased from an upright position to a collapsed position forwardly by a coiled biasing spring. A latch rod fixed to the backrest is received and held by a releasable latch of a backseat lock so that the backrest is releasably held in an upright position against the biasing force of the biasing spring. The lock is connected to a control cable operable manually from the vicinity of the front seat of the car or from the vicinity of the rear trunk to render the latch holding action ineffective and release the latch rod. The biasing spring will then collapse the backrest forwardly. The backrest is restored manually to an upright position and locked in readiness for collapsing by the biasing spring. The control cable has a flexible outer casing and an inner cable slidable longitudinally therein.
