    Abstract: A running control function of a motorcar is inspected on an inspecting apparatus which is provided with rolls for mounting thereon each of wheels of the motorcar. The control function operates to control rotational speeds of wheels depending on a difference in rotational speed between front and rear wheels or right and left wheels of the motorcar. The motorcar is caused to run in a condition in which each of the wheels of the motorcar is mounted on each of the rolls. When a rotational speed of a first roll for mounting thereon one of front and rear wheels or one of right and left wheels and a rotational speed of a second roll for mounting thereon the other of the front and rear wheels or the other of the right and left wheels have both increased to a predetermined speed, the first roll is decelerated.

    Abstract: A limited slip differential which is incorporated into a differential gear for driving one wheel and the other wheel of a vehicle is inspected as follows. One wheel and the other wheel are mounted on one roll and on another roll, respectively. Acceleration of the vehicle is performed while the aforementioned one roll on which the aforementioned one wheel is mounted is being subjected to a force of restraining the rotation of the aforementioned one roll. A difference in rotational speed between the aforementioned one roll and the aforementioned another roll on which the other wheel is mounted is measured during the accelerating operation. A torque which operates on the aforementioned one roll is measured. A limited slip differential torque which is generated by the limited slip differential is measured from the measured torque.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus for adjusting tension on a timing belt of an engine. The engine includes a driving pulley on its crankshaft, a driven pulley on its camshaft, an auxiliary pulley, a timing belt bridging over the pulleys and a tension pulley pressing against the belt at one side. The driving pulley is first reversely rotated while the driven pulley is held fixed in position thereby tensioning the portion of the belt between the auxiliary pulley and the driven pulley. The driving pulley is then rotated normally to overtension the tension side portion of the belt while the tension pulley is advanced to take up any slack. Thereafter, the tension pulley is retracted while the driving pulley is reversely rotated until deflection of the tension side portion of the belt reaches a predetermined target adjustment value. The tension pulley is then fixed in position.
