  • Publication number: 20160116947
Abstract: A portable computer includes a first housing having a first wall defining a first opening and a surface surrounding the opening and having an inside periphery. A first component is removably received within the opening and defines a body with an outer periphery that is inset with respect to the inner periphery of the opening. A first locking member is removably attached within the opening. The first locking member defines an outer periphery extending along the inner periphery of the first opening of the housing. The first locking member also defines a second opening having an inner periphery that is inset with respect to the outer periphery of the first component body such that a portion of the first locking member overlies a first portion of the first component body. A second portion of the first component is exposed within the opening of the first locking member.

  • Publication number: 20160087991
Abstract: An image of a second user is captured by a camera of a computing device currently providing access to a first set of resources to a first user. In response to identifying an account of the first user, a prompt is provided at the computing device to confirm authorization of the second user. On receiving a valid response to the prompt, the second user is provided access to a second set of resources provided by the computing device.

  • Patent number: 9202034
Abstract: A method of logging a first user in to an computing device includes receiving a an image of the first user via a camera operably coupled with the computing device and determining an identity of the first user based on the received image. If the determined identity matches a predetermined identity, then, based at least on the identity of the first user matching the predetermined identity, the first user is logged in to the computing device.

  • Patent number: 9128664
Abstract: A computing device is provided herein. For instance, the computing device comprises base and lid assemblies, and a connector. The base assembly includes a base housing, a first hinge portion attached to the housing, a keyboard, a touch-based input surface, and an electronic component within the housing. The housing includes a first surface at least partly surrounding the keyboard and touch-based input, and a second opposing surface. The lid assembly includes a lid housing, a second hinge portion, and a display, and includes a first surface at least partly surrounding the display and a second surface opposite the first surface. The connector has a third hinge portion, a fourth hinge portion and a body extending therebetween. The third hinge portion is rotatably affixed to the first hinge portion of the base assembly, and the fourth hinge portion is rotatably affixed to the second hinge portion of the lid assembly.

  • Patent number: 9122314
Abstract: Key-input mechanisms are disclosed. An example mechanism includes an arced, resilient keycap, the arc of the keycap having a first central arc angle when un-pressed. The keycap is configured to, when pressed, deform so as to have a second central arc angle, the first central arc angle being greater than the second central arc angle. The keycap is further configured to, when released after being pressed, return to its un-pressed shape having the first central arc angle. The key input mechanism further includes a switch disposed under the keycap. The switch is configured to, when the keycap is pressed, electrically couple two or more circuit traces to indicate a keystroke for the key input mechanism. The switch is further configured to, when the keycap is released, electrically decouple the two or more circuit traces to indicate that the keystroke for the key input mechanism is complete.
