  • Patent number: 6552819
Abstract: An analyzer estimates the time for rendering image data based on the number, types, etc., of rendering commands, stored in an intermediate memory, and determines whether or not there is a possibility of overrun. If there is the possibility of overrun, image data of respective bands formed in a band buffer are sequentially compressed and stored into a compressed image memory. When the image data for one page has been stored, the data in the compressed image memory is sequentially expanded and supplied to a printer engine. This avoids failure of image output due to overrun, while reducing the capacity of the image memory.

  • Publication number: 20010040699
Abstract: Analyzer 121 estimates time for rendering image data based on the number, the types etc. of rendering commands, stored in intermediate memory 113, and determines whether or not there is a possibility of overrun. If there is the possibility of overrun, image data of respective bands formed in band buffer 118 are sequentially compressed and stored into compressed image memory 115. When the image data for one page has been stored, the data in the compressed image memory 115 is sequentially expanded and supplied to printer engine 130. • Patent number: 6009193
Abstract: An image processing method converts an N-value image into an M-value image (N<M). The method obtains an appearance frequency distribution of M-value image data corresponding to a predetermined N-value pattern around an objective pixel of N-value image data, to which an M-value image (M<N) is converted, for each of N-value patterns different from each other. The method then estimates M-value image data corresponding to a given N-value image on the basis of the appearance frequency distribution.

  • Patent number: 5973707
Abstract: A scan converting method of converting image data from a raster sequence scan to a block sequence scan to divide the image data into blocks each having predetermined vertical width and lateral width and converting the image data from the block sequence scan to the raster sequence scan. One block buffer having a size in which a vertical width is set to the vertical width of the block and a lateral width is set to the horizontal width of the raster is used. Raster data by the raster sequence scan is written into the block buffer. The block data by the block sequence scan is read out. The block data is written and the raster data is read out. Upon conversion from the raster sequence scan to the block sequence scan, the block buffer is read out by the block sequence scan, the raster data is written into empty addresses which are caused by the reading, and the read address by the next block sequence scan is obtained by a predetermined arithmetic operation on the basis of the order of writing.

  • Patent number: 5933252
Abstract: An image processing method and apparatus for converting image data for use in a color CRT and an image processing device each having a different color reproducible range, for example, a color printer. Color component data of color image data corresponding to a most parts of a color reproducible range of the color printer having a color reproducible region which is narrower than that of the color CTR is not converted. The hue and the brightness of color component data of color image data exceeding the color reproducible range of the color printer are not substantially converted but only chromaticness is converted. A part deviated from the color reproducible range can be approximated to the outer periphery of the reproducible range. Furthermore, the most part of the color reproducible range is correctly color-reproduced and the color image is converted so as to make a portion of the same to be a compressed space of an all color space.
