  • Patent number: 5707875
Abstract: Using a mixed sample of a plurality of phosphoric acid compounds different in chemical structure as a sample for measurement, a .sup.31 P nuclear magnetic resonance signal obtained through polarization transfer between .sup.17 O and .sup.31 P is observed and signals obtained without polarization transfer are eliminated, whereby .sup.31 P nuclear magnetic resonance signal spectrum of an .sup.17 O-labeled phosphoric acid is selectively observed. For this purpose, a double resonance NMR detector capable of exciting .sup.17 O and .sup.31 P at the same time is connected to an NMR spectrometer, and using a pulse train which permits observation of a .sup.31 P nuclear magnetic resonance signal obtained through polarization transfer between .sup.17 O and .sup.31 P, a .sup.31 P nuclear magnetic resonance signal from the .sup.17 O-labeled phosphoric acid is observed, and signals for .sup.17 O-unlabeled .sup.31 P are eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5470707
Abstract: A hydrogen bond labeling and base sequence determination method for DNA or RNA takes advantage of the complementary nature of the fundamental structure of DNA or RNA bases to bind corresponding chemical species with the base species of a denatured DNA or RNA chain. After providing an aqueous solution containing a nucleic acid, heating the aqueous solution to cleave the nucleic acid; cooling the aqueous solution and adding a base-specific labeling molecule having available hydrogen bonds to the aqueous solution, the base-specific labeling molecules bond to the available bases in a one-to-one fashion via the available hydrogen bonds. The resulting labeled molecule can be microscopically observed to determine the base sequence of the nucleic acid.

  • Patent number: 5252719
Abstract: A process for producing a protein-oriented membrane which is enhanced physically and chemically by orienting protein and cross linking the oriented protein together, is described. The proteinaceous membrane which is subjected to orientation treatment alone is weak physically and chemically, and its processing and handling are therefore difficult. However, according to the present invention, the protein after the process of orientation is cross linked together to produce a protein-oriented membrane remarkably enhanced physically and chemically.

  • Patent number: 4830830
Abstract: Nucleic acid fragments labelled by radio isotape migrate at speeds that increase as the molecular weights decrease in a migration path served with a potential at both ends thereof. The migration path is constituted by a pipe-shaped gel support such as a glass tube. A ring-shaped scintillator is provided at a middle portion of the migration path to circumscribe the gel support, and whereby the beta rays are detected. A window may be formed in the glass tube at a portion opposed to the scintillator, so that the beta rays are not attenuated by the glass.

  • Patent number: 4624769
Abstract: An improved electrophoresis apparatus for nucleic acid fragments in which nucleic acid fragments are separated in the order of their molecular weight in an electrophoresis cell using an electrophoretic gel for determining the base sequence of a nucleic acid, the improvement comprising a nucleic acid fragment specimen supply section for supplying the nucleic acid fragments to the electrophoresis cell, disposed thereover a molecular sieving membrane having a predetermined degree of molecular permeability for separating to remove those high molecular weight ingredients in the nucleic acid fragment specimen other than the fragments intended to be analyzed electrophoretically.
