  • Publication number: 20070054800
Abstract: To improve the performance of an exhaust gas purification catalyst and enhance the particulate matter burning rate of a catalyst-equipped diesel particulate filter, the catalyst contains a mixed oxide of Zr, at least one kind of rare earth metal other than Ce and precious metal. The rare earth metal is selected from the group of Y, Yb, Nd and Sc. The mixed oxide is obtained by mixing an acidic solution containing Zr ions, ions of at least one kind of rare earth metal other than Ce and precious metal ions with a basic solution to obtain a mixed oxide precursor through coprecipitation and calcining the precursor.

  • Publication number: 20060245985
Abstract: The present invention is intended to configure a diesel particulate filter to allow the burning rate of particulates to increase even with a small amount of catalytic metal or even without using any catalytic metal. In the diesel particulate filter, walls forming exhaust gas channels in a filter body on which the particulates are trapped are coated with a catalyst layer for promoting the burning of the trapped particulates. The catalyst layer contains a mixed oxide in which Ce, Zr and a rare earth element R other than Ce are contained in a Ce/(Ce+Zr) mole ratio between 10% and 90% both inclusive or between 20% exclusive and 80% inclusive.

  • Publication number: 20060059900
Abstract: An upstream catalyst (3) and a downstream catalyst (4) are disposed upstream of a particulate filter (5) in an exhaust passage of a diesel engine. The downstream catalyst (4) has a larger amount of support material for supporting catalytic metal than the upstream catalyst (3). This enhances the efficiency of oxidation reactions of HC in the catalysts to raise the temperature of exhaust gas flowing into the filter (5).

  • Patent number: 6432872
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a composition for use in adsorption treatment which is easy to handle; a method for easily preparing the composition in the form of grains without inhibiting its adsorption ability; products such as an adsorption treatment device and a filter for air-cleaning formed with the composition; and a method of adsorption treatment. The composition for use in adsorption treatment of the present invention includes an adsorbing substance which is reactive with components to be adsorbed in the presence of moisture, a water-absorbing substance, and a binder, wherein the binder is 1.3 to 8 weight percent with respect to the water-absorbing substance.
