  • Publication number: 20120079139
Abstract: When checking whether or not the connection-destination port of a cable that is connected between apparatuses is correct, notification is made to a user by a control apparatus. The control apparatus identifies a second port that is the correct connection destination of a target first port, which is a check-target first port of multiple first ports, identifies a second port, which is connected via a cable to the target first port, and determines whether or not these second ports are the same. In a case where the result of this determination is negative, the control apparatus causes the second display apparatus to execute a display with respect to the second port that is the correct connection destination of the target first port.

  • Publication number: 20120016971
Abstract: At least one second I/O switch which a plurality of I/O devices is coupled to is coupled to at least one first I/O switch to which a plurality of servers is coupled. A configuration in which all servers that are coupled to the first I/O switch can be coupled to all I/O cards that are coupled to the at least one second I/O switch that is coupled to the first I/O switch is executed. The controller receives the specifications of a server unit and an I/O device unit that is to be coupled to the server unit. The controller executes a setting in which at least one I/O device that configures the specified I/O device unit is allocated to at least one server that configures the specified server unit to the second I/O switch to which the at least one I/O device is coupled.

  • Patent number: 7673022
Abstract: In an information processing apparatus having a function for exploiting higher performance than a single server module by constituting an SMP by combining a plurality of server modules, a user is inhibited from illegally constituting an SMP construction that exceeds license information. When a partition is constituted by a construction against the SMP license information, a slot number representing the number of server modules belonging to a partition and mounted to a chassis and the number of server modules in the same partition are checked and the SMP construction is inhibited when they do not fall within the range of the slot number and the number of server modules in the license information.

  • Patent number: 7313637
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a computer system provided with a mechanism for connecting a single port disk to an active server and the disk to a standby server when in a fail-over processing. An “add_pci” command issued from a clustering program is used to let a control program change the allocation of a PCI slot while an interruption signal issued to a standby server permits an ACPI processing routine to hot-add a PCI card that includes the disk unit on the subject guest OS.

  • Publication number: 20050228769
Abstract: In provision against an unrecoverable failure in a first OS, a second OS for undertaking failure processing is loaded onto a memory beforehand. On detecting a failure in the first OS, a gate driver saves the first OS, moves the second OS to its executable area within the memory, and starts up the second OS. After this, control is transferred to a failure-processing application program placed under the control of the second OS.
