Abstract: A method of preserving a cosmetic is provided, comprising mixing into the cosmetic a substantially paraben-free endermic liniment composition comprising, an antiseptic/antifungal agent for inhibition of microbial growth in cosmetics. The antiseptic/antifungal agent is comprised of 0.1-3 wt % 2-n-butyl-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol, 2.0-5.0 wt % 1,3-butylene glycol, and water. Alternatively, the antiseptic/antifungal agent may comprise 0.1-3.0 wt % 2,2-diallyl-1,3-propanediol and 0.1-15.0 wt % of a diol. In addition, a substantially paraben-free endermic liniment composition comprising an antiseptic/antifungal agent for inhibition of microbial growth in cosmetics is provided, the agent comprising 0.1-3 wt % of 2-n-butyl-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol, 2.0-5.0 wt % 1,3-butylene glycol, and water.

Abstract: An antiseptic/antifungal agent comprising 2,2-dialkyl-1,3-propanediol represented by the formula (I): wherein R1 and R2 can either be identical or different from each other, and both denote an alkyl group with a carbon number of 1-4, and an endermic liniment containing the same. In addition, an endermic liniment containing 3-methyl-3-methoxybutanol and 1,2-pentanediol, and an endermic liniment containing 3-methyl-3-methoxybutanol and 2-phenoxyethanol, is provided.

Abstract: A quick drying disinfectant composition comprising 50-99 v/v% lower alcohol, a cationic disinfectant and emollient; wherein the composition further comprises cyclic or chain silicone represented by the formula:?(CH.sub.3).sub.2 SiO!.sub.n or HO--?CII.sub.3).sub.2 SiO!.sub.n --IIin which n represents an integer 2-6; and/or ester of polyhydric alcohol and fatty acid having IOB or 0.22-0.85 in which the fatty acid has straight or branched chain. The disinfectant composition of the present invention has sufficient disinfectant effect and quick drying effect without producing skin roughness or stickiness.

Abstract: A disinfectant-detergent composition is provided comprising amphoteric surfactant comprised of imidazolinium betaine as a main detergent, a cationic disinfectant, lower alcohol and an emollient. The disinfectant-detergent composition of the present invention has an excellent disinfecting effect, and a moderate cleansing effect without causing skin roughness, stickiness or an unfavorable reaction with a quick drying type disinfectant.
