  • Patent number: 5511874
Abstract: A drive transmission mechanism for a biaxial extruder includes first and second output gears respectively fitted with an axial displacement on first and second output shafts which are connected to first and second screws of a biaxial extruder. A first lower gear and a first upper gear are arranged below and above the first output gear. A second lower gear and a second upper gear arranged below and above the second output gear. A reduction gear train is provided for quartering the drive force of a common drive source equally and distributing the quartered drive force to the first lower gear, the first upper gear, the second lower gear and the second upper gear.

  • Patent number: 5251834
Abstract: In a traveling wire take-up method and machine of a wire coating line, a wire shifting guide lever of a take-up machine shifts a traveling wire toward a snagger of a bobbin holder to change over from a presently take-up bobbin to an empty bobbin. A take-up tension of the traveling wire is increased before the changeover operation, and the take-up tension of the traveling wire is reduced to a predetermined take-up tension after the changeover operation has been finished. Furthermore, increase and decrease of the take-up tension is preferably controlled by adjusting an output of a sheave motor in a dancer roller disposed in front of the take-up machine.

  • Patent number: 5249427
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for cooling a coated wire including: preparing a water storage tank disposed between an extruder for coating a core wire with an insulating material and for feeding the coated wire forwardly, and a winder for winding the coated wire; and passing the coated wire before being wound through still water in the water storage tank thereby rapidly cooling the coated wire, the improvement comprising: preparing trough members disposed between the water storage tank and the extruder along the advance direction of the coated wire in such a manner as to cover the coated wire from the underside; and cooling the coated wire by water which is discharged to the trough members and is made to flow therein and thereafter passing the coated wire through the water storage tank. Using the above method, even in manufacture of an insulated wire having a coated outside diameter of 1 mm or less, it is possible to suppress the surface roughness of the coated wire in the degree of at least 1 .mu.m.

  • Patent number: 4217322
Abstract: A process for extruding a synthetic resin while restricting the resin flow by positively furnishing the resin flow path surface of an extruding die near its resin flow outlet with frictional resistance relative to the resin disclosed also is an extruding die for practicing the above-described method.

  • Patent number: 4204496
Abstract: A steel-pipe coating process and an apparatus therefor, in which molten resin is extruded through a cross-head die connected to an extruder, into a tubular shape, in a manner to cover or coat the surface of a steel pipe. In this apparatus, a resin outlet in the extruder is communicated through the medium of a resin guide member with a resin inlet of the cross head die. The extruder is secured to a fixed frame, while the cross head die is supported by the fixed frame in a reciprocating manner through the medium of a reciprocating drive member within a given stroke in the direction of the steel pipe being fed. Thus, when the cross head die is reciprocated by means of the reciprocating drive member, the relative speed of the steel pipe being fed to the cross head die being reciprocated may be intermittently varied, whereby the amount of resin being extruded through a cylindrical outlet of the cross head die around the surface of the steel pipe may be intermittently varied.

  • Patent number: 4150801
Abstract: An automatic winding machine for winding a wire-like object such as an electric wire on a drum portion of a bobbin in multiple closely packed layers. The automatic winding machine includes a position detecting member for automatically detecting the position of a wire-like object which is about to be wound around the drum portion of a bobbin, and a traverser member for the wire-like object while both the position detecting member and traverser member may operate in synchronism with each other, with the result that the winding of the wire-like object around a drum portion of a bobbin may be achieved extremely accurately over the entire width of the drum portion, with freedom from the danger of lap or irregular winding.

  • Patent number: 4015785
Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating the terminal end portion of a wire-like object within a wire-like object take-up apparatus is disclosed as including main and auxiliary terminal treating covers, the covers being moved axially toward each other and in surrounding relation with respect to a bobbin upon which the wire-like object is wound so as to define therebetween an overlapped position within which a terminal end receiving chamber or spacing is defined. In this manner, the terminal end is encased and upon severance of the same, the terminal end cannot fly about in a random manner, or be additionally severed and shredded, whereby damage thereto, as well as to the take-up apparatus and wound object, and the operating personnel, is effectively prevented.

  • Patent number: 3971519
Abstract: A device for ensuring the smooth shifting of a strand from a full reel to an empty reel in a strand winding machine including improvements in the snaggers provided on the wheels which are rotating with the two associated reels arranged parallel to each other. The snaggers are provided on each wheel and are supported by a shaft parallel to the central axis of revolution of the wheel such that the snaggers are rotatable about the shaft. The centroids of the snaggers are displaced from the pivot of the snagger itself, that is, positioned on that side of the pivot which is opposite from the pointed end of the snagger. Thus, the snagger can securely grip and hold the strand during rotation of the wheel and can release the strand when the wheel comes to rest.
