  • Patent number: 4223342
Abstract: For improving the frequency characteristic of a color television signal, particularly one in which the chrominance component thereof is provided with a bandwidth substantially narrower than that of the luminance component, the luminance component is used to generate a control signal which is proportional to the lack of registration between low and high frequency portions of the luminance component spectrum, and the control signal thus obtained selectively increases and decreases a delay applied to the relatively narrow-bandwidth chrominance component to substantially align its excursions with the excursions of the relatively wide bandwidth luminance component.

  • Patent number: 4101928
Abstract: A color television receiver hue-control system that produces two sets of color-generating signals, one set being differentially controllable and the other not, to produce two kinds of reference color areas on the screen of a color cathode ray tube to be visible simultaneously. The hue of the first reference color in a first area is fixed, and the hue of the second reference color in an adjacent area is varied by the same hue adjustment control as that used to vary the hue in the reproduced television picture. The hue adjustment is achieved by adjusting the control to produce differential modification of the amplitude of one set of color-generating signals, either by direct amplitude modification or by phase shifting a demodulating carrier if the set of color-generating signals is modulated on a carrier, to produce coincidence of the hue of the two reference colors.

  • Patent number: 4083019
Abstract: A multivibrator circuit has a main constant current source through which the main portion of the current of the multivibrator circuit is supplied and a by-pass current source through which a portion of the current to be supplied to the main constant current source is supplied, whereby the duty cycle of the multivibrator circuit is controlled. When the by-pass current is changed, the frequency of the multivibrator circuit is changed. The frequency of the multivibrator, when used as the frequency-modulated oscillator in a video tape recorder, may thus be set regardless of the signal clipping level and signal clamping level in a video recording circuit of the video tape recorder.

  • Patent number: 4081837
Abstract: An undesired signal canceller for a composite amplitude modulated signal including an undesired signal delayed by a time .tau..sub.o from a desired signal. The composite signal is supplied to a detector circuit. A carrier signal of the same frequency as that of the amplitude modulated carrier and delayed in phase by the time .tau..sub.o is produced. This carrier signal is amplitude modulated with a signal formed by delaying the output signal from the detector circuit by the time .tau..sub.o, and the amplitude modulated carrier signal is combined with the composite amplitude modulated signal to cancel the undesired signal therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4021749
Abstract: A signal amplifying circuit including an amplifying transistor having its base-emitter terminals connected to a signal source. A diode having the proper characteristics is also connected across the base-emitter input terminals to produce a first reference bias voltage to be applied to the input circuit of the transistor. The emitter-collector circuit of a compensating transistor is connected in series with the emitter-collector circuit of the amplifying transistor, and a second reference bias voltage is connected between the base of the compensating transistor and the emitter of the amplifying transistor. The second reference bias voltage is produced across a plurality of diodes having the proper characteristics, whereby the current gain of the amplifier will be constant regardless of variations in the transistor characteristics.

  • Patent number: RE29975
Abstract: In reducing crosstalk between the low frequency, frequency-converted chrominance portions of h-aligned video signals on adjacent tracks, the frequency converting carrier, but not the entire frequency converted portion, has its polarity inverted at the end of each line interval during the recording of alternate tracks but not during the recording of the remaining alternate tracks. This eliminates the extraneous signal that would otherwise be produced in the balanced modulator of the playback apparatus by any direct voltage offset or transient remanent of a direct voltage offset in the recorded signal.
