  • Patent number: 5304100
Abstract: An automatic tensioner apparatus comprising an idler pulley engaging a transmission belt of a wrapping connector type transmission mechanism, an arm for swingably supporting the idler pulley with respect to a predetermined supporting surface, and a resilient member for exhibiting a resilient force for swinging the arm and the idler pulley in a direction to engage the transmission belt in order to apply a predetermined tension to the transmission belt. A casing for accommodating the resilient member is secured to the supporting surface and an arm pivot-supporting portion for swingably supporting a base portion of the arm is integrally provided on the casing in such a manner that the arm pivot-supporting portion is offset relative to the resilient member in a direction along the supporting surface and relative to the resilient member in a direction away from the supporting surface.

  • Patent number: 4793300
Abstract: A V-shaped engine has a pair of cylinder banks with a V-shaped space defined therebetween, a crank pulley disposed on one end thereof in the direction of a crankshaft, and a transmission case on an opposite end thereof. An intake manifold with a throttle body assembled thereon is disposed in the V-shaped space and positioned with the throttle body disposed over the transmission case, providing a space close to the crank pulley. At least one accessory actuatable by the crank pulley is disposed in the last-mentioned space. The accessory is mounted on a bracket mounted on the cylinder banks. An engine mount bracket for supporting the engine on a vehicle frame projects integrally from the bracket.

  • Patent number: 4158349
Abstract: An ignition timing control system for an internal combustion engine, including a vacuum actuator connected to turn a point base about the axis of the rotary cam which operates the breaker points to advance or retard the ignition timing. The vacuum actuator employs two vacuum chambers, one used primarily to advance the timing, the other used to retard the timing. Each chamber communicates with an engine intake passage downstream from a throttle valve. Electromagnetic selector valves, one associated with each vacuum chamber, serve to connect each vacuum chamber to the engine intake passage, or alternatively to vent each vacuum chamber to atmosphere. These selector valves may be energized by a temperature switch, a velocity switch or a cruise switch. A check valve maintains vacuum intensity in the spark advance chamber when the vacuum intensity at the engine intake passage is lowered by virtue of the opening of the throttle valve.
