  • Patent number: 4308057
Abstract: Steel making by a converter comprises blowing oxygen onto the surface of molten steel held in the converter and blowing agitating gases of 1/3 to 1/3000 of the amount of said oxygen thereinto from tuyeres provided at bottom of the converter, which number from 1 to 30 and are from 2 to 30 mm.phi. in inside diameter, thereby to effectively agitate the molten steel and make blowing reaction stabilized for purposes of increasing production and improving quality of the steel.

  • Patent number: 4186792
Abstract: There is disclosed a molten metal level monitoring and controlling apparatus for continuous casting machines which employs an eddy-current type distance measuring device for measuring the level of the molten metal in the mold of a continuous casting machine. The eddy-current type distance measuring device generates a molten metal level signal by detecting in a noncontact manner the distance between its detecting mechanism fixedly mounted in place just above the surface of the molten metal and the molten metal level.

  • Patent number: 4102675
Abstract: A method of regenerating molten slag remaining in a furnace or converter or the like after tapping of steel, by adding solid carbon and flux to the slag, blowing oxygen into the slag, heating to a temperature of more than 1500.degree. C and agitating. The regenerated slag can be controlled in composition to be most suitable for such ultimate uses as lime, cement, etc.
