  • Patent number: 5428880
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a vehicle body for automobiles in which at a welding step, a vehicle body and plate-like parts to be mounted onto the vehicle body, such as a bonnet, a trunk lid, fenders and doors, are separately fabricated, and at a painting step, they are separately passed through the same painting step, or separately passed through stages excluding a topcoating and a final drying, following which they are separately subjected to the same topcoating and final drying treatments. At an assembling step, the plate-like parts which have been subjected to fitting-out are assembled onto the vehicle body after completion of fitting-out or replenishment of grease and oils for the vehicle body.

  • Patent number: 5208078
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of paint application. This method has the following advantageous effects. More specifically, when different paint is used, desired paint is alternately supplied to a first paint feeder and a second paint feeder from a paint feed source thereby to enable efficient painting of a workpiece by a spray gun. On the other hand, when the same paint is used, the paint is supplied only to the first paint feeder without using the second paint feeder, thereby making it possible to reduce wastefully-discharged paint and to efficiently carry out any cleaning work.

  • Patent number: 5079030
Abstract: A method for painting water base metallic paint on an object, such as the exterior of a vehicle, comprising the steps of painting such water base metallic paint on the object with a rotary atomizer to form on such object a coating of rotary atomizer painted water base metallic paint of a predetermined thickness and, thereafter, painting over such rotary atomizer painted coating, such water base metallic paint with an air spray gun to cover such rotary atomizer painted coating, and drying such coatings. One or more of such coatings may be painted electrostatically.

  • Patent number: 5060594
Abstract: Method including painting a water-based paint onto an article to obtain a water-based paint coat, initially predrying the water-based paint coat by heating with far infrared rays, further predrying the water-based coat by heating with hot air, and thereafter painting either water-based paint or oil-based paint on top of the water-based paint coat. The article can be forcibly cooled with cold air after the further predrying step. The apparatus includes a front-stage paint booth for painting therein a water-based paint to obtain the water-based paint coat, a first predrying chamber in line with and after the front-stage paint booth and having devices for heating with far infrared rays, a second predrying chamber in line with and after the first predrying chamber and having devices for heating with hot air, and a rear-stage paint booth in line with and after the second predrying chamber for painting therein either the water-based paint or the oil-based paint.
