  • Patent number: 5282374
Abstract: According to the present invention, in case of continuously forging a cast strand in its final solidification region, in order to forge the cast strand with uniform reduction amounts on front and rear sides of the strand notwithstanding the cast strand is wrapped or floated during movement of the cast strand being drawn from molds, the head end oil chamber and the rod end oil chamber of each of positioning cylinders for adjusting the positions of anvils are connected by means of hydraulic oil passages having a selector valve, and further the hydraulic oil passages connected to the head end oil chambers of the positioning cylinders are connected to each other by means of a first bypass line.

  • Patent number: 5158915
Abstract: A magnesia-based sintered body of a homogeneous composition having a porosity lower than 1% and a hydrateability lower than 0.3%, said sintered body having a chemical composition comprising 70 to 99.9% by weight of magnesia and 30 to 0.1% by weight of at least one oxide selected from the group consisting of titanium oxide, aluminum oxide, ferric oxide, phosphorus pentoxide, yttrium oxide, barium oxide, boron oxide, calcium oxide and lithium oxide. The sintered body is obtained by molding a powdery mixture of magnesia and the oxide other than magnesia.

  • Patent number: 4937214
Abstract: The present process is a process for preparation of crystalline grains-oriented ceramics which comprises orienting grains of ceramics raw material powder to a definite direction by applying centrifugal force on the grains and then burning the resulting grains. These ceramics are expected to be utilized, for example, as .beta.- or .beta."-alumina solid electrolytes for use in sodium-sulfur cells and as magnetic anisotropic ferrite magnets for use in small-sized motors, speakers or the like.

  • Patent number: 4930207
Abstract: A method of continuous compression forging, with a compression forging anvil, the final solidified region of cast steel drawn out from a mold for continuously casting, comprising the step of: compressing said cast steel with said anvil at a compressing cycle which meets the following conditions: ##EQU1## where t: the compressing cycle (sec), .delta.: the overall thickness reduction, Vc: the casting speed (mm), D: the cast steel thickness before compression forging, .theta.: the inclination angle (.degree.) with respect to the flat surface of the anvil.

  • Patent number: 4703240
Abstract: A driverless vehicle is guided along a guideline which is detected on a floor by an optical sensor having a plurality of light receiving elements. A value representing the amount of light received by each of the light receiving elements is composed with a value representing the amount of light received by one or more neighbouring light receiving elements and smoothed to an appropriately large value so that the detection of the guideline may be based on the smoothed value.

  • Patent number: 3988983
Abstract: A transfer machine and system is disclosed which automatically performs a series of marking, cutting, sorting, and the like operations in the manufacture of a large number of test material samples. The transfer machine operates under the control of a card or tape reader which provides coded information such as marking indicia, pattern number and thickness of the material for each test sample. This information is encoded, temporarily stored and then shifted in a series of parallel shift registers in sequence with the corresponding test sample as it progresses through each stage of the transfer machine. The contents of the shift registers at each stage are decoded to provide the control signals for the corresponding marking, cutting, sorting, and similar operations.
