  • Patent number: 6172664
Abstract: In response to a read instruction, the confidentiality of a data entry to be read from memory is determined by referencing the state of a confidentiality flag corresponding to that data entry. If the data entry is determined to be confidential, then specified codes of the data stored in the RAM are converted into different codes, i.e., the data entry is scrambled. The data entry is then displayed using the converted codes.

  • Patent number: 6016502
Abstract: A display of an electric device displays data which are stored in a chart data part, in the form of a chart. When deleting of a column or row of the chart using a coordinates inputting device is instructed, the column or row is deleted, the remaining columns or rows are moved closer to each other, and the chart is accordingly edited and displayed. Simultaneously, at the position at which the column or row is deleted, an identifier is displayed. A user may also optionally select whether or not to display the identifier. In addition, when the coordinates inputting device on the identifier is touched, the deleted column is restored and displayed at the original position. In the case where there are a plurality of deleted columns, one column may be selectively designated from the plurality of columns so that only the designated one column is restored.

  • Patent number: 5867158
Abstract: The present invention is directed to setting the direction and the quantity of movement by a point and to execute scrolling. A reference point is set in the display screen of the display apparatus of the electric device, in advance. When a user selects a display mode of a data processing function and designates a point within the display screen through a coordinate inputting apparatus, the device calculates a positional deviation of a designate point from the reference point as a deviation of a coordinate value, switches a display image so that an image component which is displayed at a position corresponding to the designate position is located at a position corresponding to the reference position, and scrolls the image. Further, when a point is designated successively a plurality of times as a designation point, an image which is sequentially switched is scrolled the plurality of times at predetermined time intervals.

  • Patent number: 5210853
Abstract: The information searching apparatus in accordance with the present invention comprises: a memory device having a plurality of banks and containing a plurality of types of information data to be searched, as arranged in block; a table memory device containing, in table, the banks serving as the basis of the information to be searched, the number of changed banks and address data; and a table reading device for reading tabled information from the table memory device. This information searching apparatus is so arranged as to search the target information to be searched by obtaining the base bank information based on the tabled information from the table memory device, and by obtaining the number of changed banks and the address data of the base bank information. Further, this apparatus is arranged such that the user may learn synonyms and antonyms, or the translated terms, the phonetic symbols or the like of index words in dictionary data.

  • Patent number: 5043712
Abstract: A Chinese character display apparatus includes a font memory for storing character fonts and tone symbol fonts. There is a first memory for storing strings of pairs of a character code and a tone code arranged in order of the character arrangement in a sentence that is to be displayed. A code selection device reads out the character codes and tone codes from the first memory in order of the character arrangement and distinguishes the character codes from the tone codes. There is a second memory having a first memory area for storing the character fonts respectively indicated by the character codes, in order of the character arrangement, and a second memory area for storing the tone symbol fonts respectively indicated by the tone codes.

  • Patent number: 5038377
Abstract: A voice synthesis system includes the use of a group of representative sound data for synthesizing voice data. A ROM circuit in the system includes a multilevel address system that stores starting addresses of the representative sound data. The memory capacity required for storing the representative voice data synthesized is reduced by accessing nondistinguishable data through a multilevel address system.
