    Abstract: A process for producing a (meth)acrylate derivative including reacting a compound of formula (1) (wherein R.sup.1 is H or CH.sub.3 ; A is C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkylene; and p is 1 to 10) with a chloro-dioxaphosphorus compound of formula (2) (wherein q is 0 or 1) in the presence of a secondary amine of formula (3) (wherein R.sup.2 and R.sub.3 are each C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkyl, cycloalkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.9 aryl, arylalkyl, etc.) to produce a (meth)acrylate derivative of formula (4) and further reacting the same with a tertiary amine of formula (5) (wherein R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are each C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl etc.) to provide a (meth)acrylate derivative of formula (6).

The carboxylic acid ester monomer is represented by the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 stands for a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a cyclic alkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms or an aryl group, and X stands for ##STR2## in which R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each stand for a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a cyclic alkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms or an aryl group, m and 1 being integers of from 0 to 4, at least one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 being a group containing a fluorine atom and n being an integer of from 0 to 4.

    Abstract: A Synthetic resin lens having a surface hard coating comprises a synthetic resin lens body and a surface hard coat deposited on the lens body. The synthetic resin lens body is made of a resin obtained by copolymerizing monomers consisting essentially as synthetic resinous components of 10 to 80 percent by weight of at least one diester of itaconic acid and mesaconic acid, 10 to 80 percent by weight of at least one allyl compound and 5 to 50 percent by weight of diethyleneglycol bis(allylcarbonate). The surface hard coat is formed by curing a coating composition comprising 50 to 800 parts by weight of at least one organic silicon compound, 100 parts by weight of colloidal silica, 50 to 600 parts by weight of a polyfunctional compound such as a polyfunctional epoxy compound, a polyalcohol, a polycarboxylic acid, or a polycarboxylic anhydride and 0.01 to 5.0 percent by weight of a curing catalyst based on the residual solids in the composition after curing.
