  • Publication number: 20060078243
Abstract: The bearing devices includes a pair of opposed sidewalls, a supporting shaft which is inserted into shaft end insertion holes provided in the both opposed sidewalls, and a roller supported between the both opposed sidewalls by the supporting shaft. The supporting shaft includes a shaft main body that is made of a steel product subjected to a heating process and has a step shape in which the outer diameters of the both shaft ends are smaller than that of a middle portion and caps which is fitted to the both shaft ends and of which the end can be caulked. An end outer-diameter side edge of the cap is caulked to an inner-diameter side edge of the insertion hole.

  • Publication number: 20050265644
Abstract: The present invention provides a split outer race for use in a rolling bearing. The split outer race is formed by bending a strip-shaped metallic plate into a substantially semicircle shape. At least one end of the split outer race in a circumferential direction has a concave-and-convex shape including a first slope portion which is inclined to an axial direction and a second slope portion inclined in a direction opposite to a direction in which the first slope portion is inclined. An edge portion formed on an inner surface of the one end in the circumferential direction has a round shape.

  • Patent number: 6474875
Abstract: The bearing device 4 is press-fitted between the inside surface of the axis insertion hole of a steering column and the outside surface of a steering axis inserted into the axis insertion hole so as to support the steering axis. The bearing device 4 comprises a roller bearing arranged on the outside surface of the steering axis and a spacer ring arranged between the outside surface of the roller bearing and the inside surface of the axis insertion hole. The spacer ring comprises a wall thickness holding unit for holding the thickness of its wall in the radius direction and a thickness reduction unit which is provided on at least one site of the inside and outside surfaces and its end in the vicinity of the wall thickness holding unit and which reduces the thickness of the wall to facilitate deformation of the spacer ring.
