Abstract: The invention relates to the development of a method for assaying an antigen which is associated with disorders caused by mental stress in a human body fluid by way of an immunoassay technique which utilizes an antibody against a mental stress related protein having the following properties or a fragment thereof: (1) having a molecular weight of about 14 kDa (measured by SDS-PAGE); and (2) having the N-terminal partial sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1; and a kit for diagnosing disorders caused by mental stress which contains the above-mentioned antibody or a fragment thereof. Thus, the accumulation of mental stress can be easily estimated and judged and the results can be applied to the diagnosis of disorders caused by mental stress.

Abstract: Novel foam proteins, monoclonal antibodies specifically recognizing said proteins, a method for determining foam protein contents in beer samples by an immunoassay using said monoclonal antibodies, a method for determining head retention and head retention stability of beer, as well as a method for evaluating raw materials of beer and stabilizers for beer are disclosed. The novel foam proteins crucial for head retention of beer have molecular weights of about 40000 to about 48000 as determined by Western blot analysis.

Abstract: The present invention provides monoclonal antibodies that specifically recognize a specific structural portion of cardiac glycoside.The monoclonal antibodies of the present invention recognize an integrated structure in the steroid structure of cardiac glycoside or its aglycon comprising: a D-ring bonded in the cis-configuration with respect a C-ring; a methyl group bonded in the .beta.-configuration at the C13 position; a hydroxyl group bonded in the .beta.-configuration at the C14 position; and, an .alpha., .beta.-unsaturated lactone group bonded in the .beta.-configuration at the C17 position. This structure is common to cardiac glycoside substances that inhibit potassium ion concentration antagonist type Na.sup.+,K.sup.+ -ATPase.
