Patent number: 7155035Abstract: A plurality of iris images of a person to be authenticated in which the positions of extraneous light reflection are respectively different are captured by using an image capturing device. Iris codes, that is, features for authentication, are respectively extracted from the plural iris images, and the plural iris codes thus extracted are respectively compared with a registered iris code, so as to generate a plurality of comparison results. The plural comparison results are integrated to obtain an ultimate comparison score, which is used for the authentication.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2003Date of Patent: December 26, 2006Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kenji Kondo, Takeo Azuma, Kenya Uomori, Yoshito Aoki

Patent number: 6807365Abstract: First modification detection data is generated from the (compressed) video data. The video data is combined with the first modification detection data. The combined data is recorded on a recording medium. The read combined data is separated into the compressed video data and the first modification detection data. Second modification detection data is generated according to the separated compressed data. The separated first data modification detection data is compared with the second data modification detection data to detect data modification. Outputting expanded video data is controlled according to the comparing result. The recorded data may be copied on a removable disc. A data reproducing apparatus having the second modification detection data generation circuit and the comparing circuit reproduces the removable disc. The reproduced video data may be further processed by a watermark processing circuit to embed watermark data in the video data which are recorded on another removable disc.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2000Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yoshito Aoki

Patent number: 6553532Abstract: Information is recorded on and reproduced from a disk ECC-block by ECC-block. Every ECC block is composed of plural sectors. A recording command is generated which contains information of a recording position on the disk. The information of the recording position is stored into a nonvolatile memory. Data is recorded on the disk in response to the recording command. In cases where power supply is turned on after interruption of power supply terminates, a specified ECC block is detected from the information stored in the nonvolatile memory. The specified ECC block is adversely affected by the interruption of power supply during the recording of data on the disk. One of a reproducing command and a verify command is generated for at least one sector of the specified ECC block. Data is reproduced from the specified ECC block on the disk in response to the one of the reproducing command and the verify command.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1999Date of Patent: April 22, 2003Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yoshito Aoki

Patent number: 5835479Abstract: A read-only zone or control zone is formed in an optical information recording medium wherein information signal are formed in both grooves and lands. Grooves are not formed in the control zone or read-only zone, and read-only data such as control data, audio-video data, or computer data is pre-recorded as a sequence of pre-formed pits on the track center line. The track pitch of the pre-formed pit sequences in the control zone or read-only zone is equal to the groove pitch in the read-write zones.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1996Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Naoyasu Miyagawa, Yoshito Aoki, Takashi Ishida, Shunji Ohara

Patent number: 5809007Abstract: An optical disk of the present invention has one or more recording tracks formed concentrically or spirally on the disk to which data signals are recorded by forming different-length marks and spaces on the tracks. An ID signal combining marks and spaces of two or more predetermined lengths approximately equal to the length of the marks and spaces forming the data signals is recorded to the recording tracks within a predetermined disk area, thus creating the ID signal by aligning the marks and spaces in the radial direction and recording the aligned marks and spaces to adjacent tracks in a predetermined radial disk area. Also, a reproduction apparatus for reproducing signals from the optical disk is disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1996Date of Patent: September 15, 1998Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshinari Takemura, Shunji Ohara, Takashi Ishida, Yoshito Aoki, Shigeru Furumiya, Toyoji Gushima
