  • Patent number: 6450830
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an upper cover (1), a lower cover (2), between which a space (3) is defined for receiving a terminal block (4) having a plurality of terminals (41) therein, and a latching means (5) assembled on a top of the upper cover. The latching means includes a latch (6) with one pivot point (64) thereof and a slide knob (7). A tongue (68) projects from an end of the latch and extends into an opening (730) defined in an inclined neck (73) of the slide knob. A pair of barbs (66) are formed on the latch to engage with corresponding part of a cooperating connector. By pushing/pulling a driving portion (72) formed on the slide knob, the tongue engages with or disengages from the opening, whereby the latch pivots about the pivot point and the connector connects or disconnects with the cooperating connector.

  • Patent number: 6290136
Abstract: A PCMCIA connector having a header retaining a number of terminals therein, a shield having a pair of downwardly and inwardly bent extensions to define a receiving slot for receiving a PCMCIA card, and a card ejection mechanism for releasing the inserted card. An engaging device is formed on one of the extensions of the shield and a guide of the ejection mechanism for retentively mounting the guide to the shield. By such a design, occupied space on a printed circuit board on which the connector is mounted is reduced, and assembly of the card ejection mechanism is facilitated.

  • Patent number: 6261132
Abstract: A header connector (10) of a future bus includes an insulative housing (12) having a bottom wall (14) defining a plurality of receiving holes (20) therethrough for receiving a corresponding plurality of pins (22) therein. Each pin includes a contact portion (24), a retaining portion (25), and a plurality of tail portions (30). Each pin has a retention mechanism (26) formed thereon, for securing the pin in the corresponding receiving hole. Each receiving hole has opposite end portions, and an intermediate portion wider than the end portions. A width and a length of the intermediate portion are greater than a thickness and a width of the contact portion of each pin respectively, so that the contact portion can freely pass through the receiving hole during assembly. A width of the end portions is less than a thickness of the retention mechanism, for firm engagement therewith.

  • Patent number: 6230978
Abstract: A card ejection device of an electronic card connector includes a card driving portion and a manual operation portion. A shielding member includes a plate for substantially shielding the connector and two side walls extending therefrom. The card driving portion includes a rocking member rotated by a follower bar to eject an electronic card received in the connector. The manual operation portion includes a casing mounted to the side wall of the shielding member. A cam plate is fixed in one side wall of the casing and defines a closed-loop groove. A push bar is movably received in the casing and overlaps the cam plate. A slider is arranged between the push bar and the cam plate. The slider defines a hole for receiving a pivot of the push bar and forms a pin movably received in the groove of the cam plate whereby when the push bar is manually operated, the groove guides the movement of the slider and the push bar.

  • Patent number: 6142801
Abstract: A PC card connector comprises a header connector, a shielding cover and an ejection mechanism. The ejection mechanism includes ejection means and actuation means. The ejection means is adapted to eject a fully inserted PC card from the header connector. The actuation means includes an elongate base and an elongate rod received in the base. A slider is moveably mounted between the base and the rod. The rod defines a recess for receiving the slider and forms an inclined inner surface for downwardly pressing against the slider thereby preventing the slider from becoming disengaged from the base. The ejection mechanism further includes a jacketing member adapted to receive the rod and the base of the actuation means. The jacketing member forms a number of latches along side edges thereof for engaging with a side wall of the shielding cover thereby securing the actuation means thereto.

  • Patent number: 6123560
Abstract: An electronic card connector includes an insulative header retaining conductive contacts for electrically engaging an electronic card received therein. A card ejection mechanism is mounted to the header for selectively ejecting the electronic card from the connector. The ejection mechanism includes a casing retaining a cam plate therein. A push bar is slidably arranged between the cam plate and the casing with an end thereof extending beyond the connector for facilitating manual actuation. A slot is defined in the push bar for receiving a slider therein. The slot drivingly engages with an end of a coupling bar which is coupled to the card driving member. The slider forms a pin movably and guidingly received in a groove defined in the cam plate and forming a closed loop path.

  • Patent number: 6116950
Abstract: A stand-off for mounting a PCMCIA connector having two vertically stacked shells to a mother board. The stand-off is attached to a side of each shell and comprises a main plate and a plurality of flanges extending from upper and lower edges thereof. A pair of locking protrusions extends from opposite edges of the main plate for attaching the stand-off to the shell. A tab defining a screw hole perpendicularly extends form a front portion of the main plate. The connector is attached to the mother board by means of bolts. A spacer is provided between the tab and the mother board to ensure that the connector is positioned parallel to the mother board. The vertical position of the connector is dependent on the length of the spacer and the position of the mother board.

  • Patent number: 6109941
Abstract: An ejector mechanism for a memory card connector includes a plate defining a guiding groove therein, a push bar, a leaf spring, a slider, a spring and a case. The slider provides a guiding pin and an elongate hole on opposite ends thereof. The plate defines a recess and forms a raised portion and a dowel in opposite ends of the recess. The dowel of the plate can move forward and backward within the hole. The end of the slider including the guiding pin approaches the raised portion when the guiding pin is located at a predetermined position of the groove of the plate for preventing the guiding pin from being misguided in the groove.
